Closers for AL Cy Young?
This could be as good a year as any to make a case that Mariano Rivera or Jonathan Papelbon should win a Cy Young award. Rivera just broke through the 40 save mark again earlier this week, and he shows no signs of letting up. Even if the Yankees rein him back in to save him for the postseason, it's entirely possible that Rivera could finish the regular season with 45 or 46 saves.

The Trey Hillman Dictionary
After listening to Royals Manager Trey Hillman and trying to decipher the manager for nearly two years, the Kansas City Star's Sam Mellinger broke down and offered up a comprehensive "Hillman dictionary". We wholeheartedly encourage you to work your way through the entire list at the blog post linked above, but here are our favorite excerpts from "Trey Speak":

The Best Pitch in Baseball: Greinke's Slider?
In case you missed it last night, young Kansas City ace Zack Greinke recorded a whopping 15 strikeouts against the Indians. While he dominated Cleveland in the way that a solid high school pitcher might toy with Little Leaguers, one thing was particularly notable about his performance: His slider was absolutely, positively unhittable.

Orioles Review and Preview: Red Sox and Royals
The Orioles have proven that they don't need to be on a West Coast trip to lose on the road after having gone 2-7 during a nine-game road trip that concluded Sunday in Boston. Baltimore now begins a seven-game homestand by welcoming the Kansas City Royals with all eyes set on which pitcher will be demoted in favor of Chris Tillman.

Moment of Levity: The Big Picture
See, who decided to throw a party in the Kauffman Stadium bleachers at the exact moment that the Angels scored the game-winning run on Wednesday night? Of course people look down. And for that matter, given the recent history of the Royals, isn't there a chance this exact scene will unfold every night in front of that billboard? Is it really a good idea to have a huge billboard that says "PARTY" against the Kansas City bleachers? Maybe the fans need to be reminded ...
