McCain's Money Chase

Hoping to rebound from a disappointing fundraising haul during the first quarter, Arizona Republican Sen. John McCain has scheduled a blitz of money events - 18 over the next 22 days - to support his presidential campaign.

He's raising money in Texas and Washington this week and then off to California, Arizona, Mississippi and Tennessee before returning to California for four days of events from Sonoma to Orange County. California was the single-largest source of contributions for McCain during the first three months of the year, accounting for nearly $1.7 million. Even so, five of his rivals each raised more money from the Golden State.

The multiple fundraising events - he held three in one day at the same Chicago venue earlier this month - are designed to help McCain improve upon his first-quarter total of nearly $13 million. McCain has expanded his "Young Professionals for McCain" events in which contributors who give less than the maximum $2,300 gather with the candidate. The next such event is May 23 on the rooftop of the D.C. law firm Covington & Burling LLP.

All the while missing 46 straight votes in the Senate... I may not always agree with my Senators, but at least they show up for work.
