Obama in Israel

Barack Obama has a large, nearly 2 to 1 lead over John McCain among Jewish voters, according to the latest Gallup data.

Obama's 60 to 33 percent advantage in polls conducted before his high-profile overseas trip is close to the average split among Jewish voters in exit polls going back to 1972 (65 to 32 percent), but if McCain gets a third of these voters on Election Day, he will do better than any GOP candidate has since 1988.

In the most recent Post-ABC poll, Americans overall were about evenly divided between Obama and McCain on the Israeli-Palestinian issue, just as they were on Iraq, Iran and international issues more broadly. Asked who would do a better job handling the situation involving the Israelis and the Palestinians, 44 percent said they put more trust in McCain, 42 percent in Obama.

Here is a chart of presidential voting patterns among Jewish voters, 1972-2004, from network exit polls. (Jewish voters made up 3 percent of the electorate in 2004; average over the entire time period is 4 percent.)

      Year %Dem %GOP %Ind %Other
      1972 65 34 * 1

      1980 45 39 17 0
      1984 67 31 0 2
      1988 64 35 0 *

The loony-left MSM describes this as a "tough" and "challenging" trip. This is clearly an effort to set the bar so low that even a Kerry-like shallow, arrogant, platitude-spouting, inexperienced, elitist, flip-flopping gas-bag, who is so mentally deficient from extensive drug use he even has to plagiarize his hollow platitudes, can pass it. The loony-left MSM declared hussein's trip a "success" even before it started.

Sorry, hussein sycophants of the MSM - but everybody can see right through this phony trip for what it really is: an insubstantial PR tour for a self-promoting narcissist.

Unfortunately, the loony-left MSM will continue to treat hussein as if he has already been elected/appointed president -- showing that they have now fully and completely abandoned all journalistic ethics and will do anything to ensure victory for TheOne.

Alex: If you haven't already, check out "Israel Insider" for what they really think about Obama...I do believe they see him for what he is, and, I believe, that will ultimately influence the US Jewish community.

Posted by: Fran | July 23, 2008 2:43 PM | Report abuse

Poor alex, McCain said Obama should go to Iraq. Well, he did and now him and you cry about it. Your so-called looney left MSM has been saying all along that any mistake on Obama's part in the ME could kill his campaign. That's hardly abandoning journalistic ethics. Where they are abandoning those ethics is with McCain's continual screw-ups and not showing him for the goof he is. Anyone who claims Putin is the head of Germany, let alone saying that Iraq and Pakistan share a common border, and claiming the surge began well before it...began, is senile, stupid, or totally out of it. Kinda like you.

Why the heck is he going to do, McCain can't run his own campaign, so how will be run this country. He is too stupid for his own good, Obama don't have to even bash this idiot, just stand back and let him keep talking. President Obama 08.

Alex H has a real personality disorder. His rant about Obama and the MSM is borderline sanity. How do people like Alex H ever get along with other people on this planet? He and others like him must be a real joy to be around on a daily basis. Even though Barack does not need his vote, he would still be willing to talk to Alex H. Alex's kind has no time for anyone. So much for all of the adjectives that he used that can only come close to describing the user of such garbage.

I am fed up with pleas from the Democratic Party and from Obama to contribute to his campaign. If he were not black, he would not be a candidate. In my opinion, he is a fraud and an impostor. He constantly protests that he is not a Muslim. If you believe that, I will sell you a bridge. He is absolutely ridiculous. Because of him and the support of the Democratic Party, I am changing my affiliation to Independent. Shame on them all!!!!

Self promoting narcissist? So what do you call a guy who graduated at the VERY bottom of his class in the Naval Academy then used his Daddy to get him a pilot's job, then dumped his wife because she was disfigured and not political asset (and we're talking lots of beer money here Mr. Christain Conservative). Personally I am sick to death of hearing him "whine" constantly about his experience in Vietnam. Get over it. That war mercifully ended 30 years ago and no one cares, end of story. And I might add, lots of other Americans were POW's. I don't see them constantly "whining" about like the little cry baby Daddy's boy that McBush is.

This election we're not trading one spoiled dumb as dirt Daddy's boy (Little General Georgie) for another; John McBush.

Get used to saying President Barack HUSSEIN Obama for the next 8 years right wing "whiners."

For that matter - "Messiah" "The Chosen One" "The Annointed" etc. are all creations of Obama's opposition as well.

Alex H. kinda reminds me of the homophobe that secretly hides his taboo fantasies, then beats himself over the head for thinking them and in turn directs all of his self hatred towards anyone that may think he's not straight as an arrow (and those that do). I mean, who really cares what you think Alex? You? Some random person you may have pissed off so much that they went and donated money to Obama? Ha - that'd be about it.

I find it interesting that the last GOP candidate with numbers better than McCain was George H.W. Bush! Nowadays, a lot of Jewish voices demonize GHWB's approach to the Mideast, as they now do Chuck Hagel--even though in my view such tough realistic pursuit of a settlement is what's most in Israel's interest.

Anyway, I suspect & hope that Obama's Israel trip is proving reassuring to Jewish voters and will move these numbers.

This article is very miss-leading - but typical of the press fawning over Obama.

While the lead off sentence for the article "Obama in Israel" states:"Barack Obama has a large, nearly 2 to 1 lead over John McCain among Jewish voters"

The reality is that IN ISRAEL Jewish voters have more than a 2 to 1 preference for McCain - NOT Obama. This is significant since it is so contrary to what is reported in the US - and since Israel is perhaps the only country which so overwhelmingly dislikes Obama.

So start reporting the news - and stop spreading propaganda !!

Grace, at 2:56 p.m. you wrote "Obama is still going to lose Florida in November. He will ultimately lose against McCain." Whether Obama wins or loses in November remains yet to be seen. Regardless I felt it necessary to give you this bit of a newsflash...Florida is a non-issue this cycle, it doesn't matter who carries it in November. The Red staters can have it. All else being equal, Obama will carry all the states Kerry carried in '04. Currently he runs solid in Colorado, Ohio, New Mexico, and slight leads in Virginia, New Hampshire, and very close to taking Missouri, Nevada and Indiana. If this is the current state of things come November, Florida doesn't fact, I dare say all he'll need is Ohio, which again is solidly in his favor, game over for McCain.

Anybody know if Sudan's Bashir and Obama have gotten along?

Actually, Bashir of Sudan has put a tumultuous "Hurricane" of genocide and rape conversions to Islam in his drive of Anti-African programme (eliminations of all "black" Africans from Sudan) ... with China's help and also so that he can pawn off those ancient AFRICAN (black tribes) lands over to China who is playing that same game of no-chinese blood spilt gains all over the world ... but more so in Africa and ALL China-surrounding countries.

They, the Chinese-Pakistani ISI collaboration have succeeded in creating the Trojan Horse of Maoists (Chinese/Pakistani armed and trained) who have gained governmental power in NEPAL and the TROJAN plan is to take over and turn Nepal into another TIBET just like Kashmir held lands, Bhutan held lands, Sikkim held lands, Aksai Chin held lands, Ladakh held lands, Sikkim held lands, Mizzoram held lands, Tibet held lands, Burmah by proxy of the Generals and its Rubies-Diamonds-Sapphires rich lands, (MINERALS, Precious stones, moneies exchanged between the China and Burmah rulers the China built road to the Indian ocean paved with such under the table dealings and SECRET traitorous pawning off BURMA wealth, country and land by the Burma's generals all secret Hong Kong arranged meetings)

So this GRAND play is not only going on in the coming take over of USA leadership ... but goes much beyond ... with China and Arab League in play!

Deep analysis and detective work is call for WORLDWIDE!

There is simply nothing Obama or anyone can do to address the simple fact that the majority of white Americans are racists, plain and simple.

This simple truth, however obvious it may be to anyone with some mental clarity, is incomprehensible to the press and the American public.

Obama's monumental loss in November will be attributed to a host of factors (flip flopping whatever), but the single most important one, the obvious fact that to white Americans a black first family is an abomination to the national culture will be ignored as if the issue simply did not exist.

The right kept challenging Obama to tour the Middle East only hoping that he would make some gaff they could use against him everyday until the election. What happened? He tours the Bagdhad is given a hero's welcome by the troops, moves and talks seamlessly with every head of state, impresses both Israelis and Palastinians and overall looks far more Presidential than not only McCain but Bush as well. McCain is left at home and is the one making the gaffs about the Anbar awakening and which countries border Iraq. If Obama had made these mistakes, it would essentially be over. McCain is running on his ability to oversee the war and he can't get the most basic information right! He makes these gaffs on DAILY basis, meanwhile the rest of the world is just waiting for Bush to be jetisonned from the Whitehouse and Barack Obama to be the new leader of what is still the greatest nation in the world

It might surprise you to know that most Jews think well beyond Israel when we reflect on our "self-interest." We think about our economy, the status of our country in the world, the environment, the Supreme Court and our rights and freedoms, and when we take all of that into consideration, we know that Obama is the person who will best lead us.

You can lie about Obama being a Muslim, a radical, a black liberationist, whatever - we see it for what it is - racist drivel. Rant as much as you want and tell yourself over and over that McCain or Cindy McKinney or whomever is going to win - whatever gets you through the night. Doesn't change a thing.

I wish I had confidence that one form of insanity will cancel the other out... but I fear that many will find a way to believe that he is both a crypto-Jew and a crypto-Muslim. Deranged minds can work everything out.

A persons name dictates nothing about a person at all. This country is so uneducated and stupid I'm truly not surprised we are falling apart. Barack is a Jewish name, it means blessing in Hebrew. OMG if we follow the same logic as some of the people who have posted here then we can come to the conclusion that Obama is a Jew also,Lets See. So maybe because Barack is his FIRST name it MEANS MORE than his middle name (Hussien if our hick friends haven't already made you aware, its the only name the know, and since it sounds Arabic he must be a terrorist). MAYBE Obama is a secret Black Jew trying to take over the US government so it obviously favors Jewish Stuff. right, because the name argument tells us so much about what a person stands for right? is he a Jew like his first name says or an Arab like his middle name tells me, and what the hell am i suppose to think about his last name?

For the record Obama did a fund raiser in Chicago for a supposed peaceful group in a town in Israel and two weeks after this group got thief money they went out and killed 12 Israelis with a suicide bomber! Justify that. If you don't believe me look it up in the archives in the Chicago tribune website! Later hypocrites

The Leftists are just going to be crushed when Obama loses. They really do not have a grip on how fragile Obama's lead is right now...exactly like Kerry's 4 years ago.

How anyone, Jewish or otherwise, could vote for John McCain is beyond me.

Whether or not you like Obama is irrelevant. Haven't we had enough inane, plodding, out of date policy for the past eight years? Doesn't our national debt give you pause? Do you agree with torture?

I think that if you believe any of Obama's speeches about his support for Israel, you should have your head examined. His speeches are written for him by his 300 advisors and he never says the same thing twice. Maybe he is schizophrenic. You Rorschack patients should take off your rosy colored glasses and pay attention to the real Obama....20 years with Rev Wright ala you think Obama was playing house during those years of a close friendship? I would rather elect Rev Sharpton than this Elmer Gantry. At least you know where Sharpton stands on issues!
