Polls: Public reaction to the State of the Union mostly positive

Two polls measured immediate reactions to President Obama's State of the Union speech Tuesday night. A CNN/Opinion Research found 84 percent of speech-watchers reacted positively to his message, 52 percent very positively. A CBS News poll found 91 percent of watchers approve of the proposals the president made.

Few see America as well-positioned economically

Barely more than a third of all Americans rate the country's ability to compete economically in positive terms, according to a new Washington Post poll.

Stewart trounces Colbert in head-to-head matchup

Poll: mortgage concerns on the rise

A new Washington Post poll shows Americans' anxiety about paying their mortgage or rent have spiked higher, with 53 percent now "very concerned" or "somewhat concerned" about making their monthly payments.
