Racist threats in Ohio
Students at Hocking College in rural Ohio are on edge after someone wrote on the wall of a dorm bathroom that all black students would be killed on Feb. 2. School officials have upped security.

Impeachments begin
University of Alabama students are upset the student government spent more than $4,700 to send five students to a community service event in California this month without getting the approval of the senate, which must okay expenditures over $1,000, The Crimson White reports. But as some students try to kick off impeachment hearings, they are running into inconsistencies in the rules: Do you need just six students to complain or 5,700 students?

Latest budget victim = NYT
To cut costs, Yale might stop stocking dorm dining halls with The New York Times. More than 900 students have joined a Facebook group fighting to keep the papers. When The Yale Daily News surveyed 50 students, only six said they read copies of the Times at least three times a week and half said they do not read it regularly.

Acting (real and reality)
At Harvard, the Hasty Pudding Theatricals picked Anne Hathaway as their woman of the year. She was honored with a parade full of cross-dressers and then roasted at a ceremony. After receiving a golden Pudding Pot, Hathaway said, "My rump is swollen with pride." Next week the group will honor its man of the year, Justin Timberlake, The Harvard Crimson reports.

Arizona State University graduate student (who is also Mrs. India USA) will appear on a local reality tv show and is worried "some of the girls might be into the whole sabotage act," the State Press reports.

There's an app for that?
Dartmouth researchers find that ski resorts exaggerate their weekend snowfall (on average, 23 percent more) to attract more skiers and snowboarders. But their patrons are getting smarter and checking the claims on their iPhones.
