Snoverit? Go to a snowball fight
Despite the raging, dangerous blizzard that is supposed to last into the afternoon, there are already plans for early-afternoon snowball fights.
There will be a George Washington University vs. Georgetown University snowball fight halfway between the two campuses in Rose Park at 26th and O Streets. Organizers have pushed the start time back to 6 p.m. so students can get to there safely.
Already more than 100 students plan to attend, and the trash-talking has started on the fight's official Facebook page.
A GWU student offered these rules: "1.) If I hit some GU senator's kid really hard, they can't sue. 2.) Please, please, please be aware that limo's probably can't make it through the snow, so GU kids, head over early."
Students are also encouraged by the Foggy Bottom blog FoBoBlo to "wear your colors proudly and brave the cold to keep up your respective school's reputation."
And just in case you missed round one of the city's legendary snowball fight on Saturday, the Official Dupont Circle Snowball Fight -- Redux will also start at 2 p.m. So far more than 650 people have committed to attending on the fight's Facebook page.
Here's what organizers promise for the Redux:
Washingtonians - you've seen the victory claims, heard the battle cries and watched the combatants charge toward the fountain... in fact, so did people all around the world, thanks to the huge media attention we generated! But which side actually won the day - North or South? Does it really matter? You can answer those questions and more by coming to Dupont Circle park on Wednesday for another slug-fest, kicking off at 2 p.m.
If you missed out on Saturday, but can make it on Wednesday, we want to see you there! And for everyone who survived Saturday and still has a hunger for a good snowball fight - let it rip! Feel free to bring your flags, banners, shields, ammo trays, drums, furry costumes - and whatever else tickles your imagination!
Can't make it to either of those fights? I am sure hundreds of smaller fights will break out across the region all day long.
