Travel troubles
A college student from Pennsylvania has sued the federal government for allegedly detaining, handcuffing and interrogating him for five hours at Philadelphia's airport in August because he was carrying a set of English-Arabic flashcards from one of his classes. Nicholas George, 22, is a senior physics and Middle Eastern studies major at Pomona College in California.

Porn on campus
The University of Iowa students have canceled plans to show a 1970s pornographic movie on campus this weekend. The 3-D film, "Disco Dolls in Hot Skin," is know for big hair, obnoxious mustaches and no coherent plot, The Daily Iowan reports.

Bruin defaced, again
UCLA's Bruin statue has been vandalized for the second time in less than four months, The Daily Bruin reports. The university had to spend a few thousand of dollar to remove the green spray paint and restore the statue.School officials do not think the paint job had anything to do with the UCLA vs. USC football game this week because the colors did not match up.

Freezing cold friendship
Two University of Michigan students have an usual bond: They are ice dancing partners and will travel to Canada for the Olympics. The Michigan Daily reports on their partnership, which the students joke should be a relationship option on Facebook.

Drinking age
A Washington State college student wants voters to lower the state's drinking age to 19, an idea that started as a class project. But to get it on November's ballot, he has to collect more than 240,000 signatures.

Pop quiz
A new study has found that many college students are not civic literate. The Intercollegiate Studies institute gave college students a multiple-choice civics test that included questions about the three branches of government, important passages from the Declaration of Independence and the Gettysburg Address, and basic events from the Revolutionary, Civil and Vietnam wars, and found that less than 60 percent of college graduates knew the answers.
