U-Va. lacrosse player charged with killing female player
I set Monday aside for a leisurely visit to the University of Virginia to research a few stories. During lunch with a university spokeswoman, my cell phone kept ringing. I checked my Blackberry and read an e-mail from my editor: U-Va. lacrosse player Yeardley Love was found murdered in her apartment. Another player, George Huguely, had been arrested and charged.
You never know where the day will lead.
Along with investigative reporter Mary Pat Flaherty in D.C., sports reporters Mark Viera and Zach Berman, who rushed down to Charlottesville, and a host of others, we slowly began to piece the story together.
Right now, we have a lot of questions. We are hoping some of those will be answered during a hearing this morning -- so keep checking back. And please e-mail me if you know anything about this tragic situation.
