That intern: The athlete intern

Jenna Johnson

Every intern class has so many personalities that they could fill a "Real World" cast. And every class has "That Intern" -- as in, "Don't be that intern." Each day I introduce you to one of those interns.

The athlete intern is easy to spot in the intern group photo -- the super tall intern who is in amazing shape. That intern got this internship because the boss used to play the same sport at the same school -- or wishes he played that sport at that school.

That intern doesn't work the same schedule as the other interns, arriving later and leaving earlier in the summer because of conditioning, and missing a few days here and there for team exhibition games.

The athlete intern always has the most interesting stories to share -- so much more interesting than the tales told by other interns about student government fights, spring break adventures or super interesting classes. Staffers love taking that intern out for lunch to hear all about the championship game or get the scoop on the coach.

Want to help me stereotype over-worked, under-appreciated, misunderstood interns? Shoot me an e-mail.

Campus Overload is a daily must-read for all D.C. interns. So, make sure to bookmark http://washingtonpost.com/campus-overload. You can also follow me on Twitter and fan Campus Overload on Facebook.
