Ugly holiday sweaters proudly worn at Catholic University
It's that time of year when it's okay -- actually, encouraged -- to wear a truly horribly awfully tacky sweater to a college party.
Over the weekend, more than 150 Catholic University students gathered for the annual Ugly Sweater Christmas Party hosted by The House, a group of student ministers.
Every Friday night, the group hosts an alcohol-free event for freshmen that's free or low-cost. Past events have included scavenger hunt, Potomac boat cruise, baseball game, laser tag match and LARP-ing.
The photos speak for themselves -- so enjoy! (And a very special thanks to Jennifer Barbera, a Catholic senior and manger of The House, for sending me these photos and captions.)
Here, modeling the hottest looks in woven holiday-wear, are juniors Katie Reilley, Maggie Sanborn and Grace Xerri.
Riley Magee works diligently to build a gingerbread house while sporting a fashionable holiday sweater and massive holiday hair bow.
Jen Barbera and Mallory Guglielmo, who are student ministers, show off their sweaters and await the arrival of 150 freshmen.
And, of course, there was a contest to determine which sweaters were the absolute ugliest. The winners were Alexis Fleming and Emily Risley, shown here proudly holding their certificates.
Kiera Zitelman sent me this photo -- featuring penguins, festive ornaments AND mouse snowmen -- from a University of Maryland, College Park, tacky sweater party hosted by the student programming board, Student Entertainment Events.
