Off to Indy (Again)

Just wanted to let everyone know that I'll be in Indianapolis through Monday for the Brickyard 400. That's NASCAR, in case you're wondering. If you've followed this blog for a bit, you already know that I'm a motor sports enthusiast and enjoy covering races such as this one, the Daytona...

Forward Brooks Laich was awarded $725,000 in salary abritration this afternoon and is under contract for next season. I'm told it's a one-year, one-way contract. NHL.com Features Backstrom

Shawn P. Roarke, senior writer for NHL.com, weighs in on Nicklas Backstrom. Now, Backstrom is ready for North America. His indoctrination started last week at the Capitals' development camp and it will continue this fall at training camp. Come Opening Day, he could be the Caps' top center, serving as...

Laich's Arb. Hearing Scheduled for Today

I've heard nothing from the Caps about Brooks Laich and Milan Jurcina agreeing to new contracts, so it sounds like both players are going to allow an arbitrator to set their pay. I can understand why a player would want to go to arb--I just wouldn't want to be that...
