More Details on New HD Screens at Verizon
I have to say I'm looking forward to actually being able to make out the puck on replays this season. From the Caps: Verizon Center debuts the ultimate arena experience on Tuesday, September 25 during the Washington Capitals first home preseason game: the first indoor high-definition LED scoreboard. ANC Sports...

Pokulok and Sloan To Hershey
Defensemen Sasha Pokulok and Tyler Sloan were assigned to Hershey today. I'll be honest, I didn't expect Pokulok, the 14th overall pick in 2005, to last this long. That can only be seen as a positive development....

Fleischmann To Get New Deal
And he could be drawing a paycheck from the Caps again really soon. It hasn't happened yet, but "Flash" will be signing a two-way deal in the coming days, I'm told. Remember, he came to camp without a contract. While Tomas hasn't been unbelievable in camp, in my opinion he's...

Checking Line Could Put Up Big Numbers
Assuming Coach Glen Hanlon keeps together them together, the checking unit of Matt Pettinger, Boyd Gordon and Chris Clark could be a critical - and potent - combination this season. You've got a former 20-goal scorer (Pettinger), a 30-goal scorer (Clark) and, at least in my opinion, one of the...

Tonight's Lineup Vs. Ottawa
The Caps don't announce their lineups for preseason or regular season games, but here's who I expect to travel to Kanata for tonight's game: Forwards: Ovechkin, Sutherby, Bradley, Gordon, Pettinger, Fleischmann, Backstrom, Klepis, Laich, Nylander, Kozlov and Clark. Defense: Poti, Morrisonn, Jurcina, Pothier, Schultz, Sloan and Green. Goalies: Kolzig, Neuvirth....

Wednesday Morning GM
After yesterday's round of cuts, the Caps' lineup is coming into focus. And since a bunch of you have been asking, here's the way I see things shaking out so far: Ovechkin - Kozlov - ? Semin - Nylander - ? Pettinger - Gordon - Clark Brashear - ? -...

Caps Night at the Nats
Last night, five Caps attended the Nats-Mets game at RFK for the another edition of "Capitals Night at the Nationals". They signed some autographs for fans and took some hacks during batting practice. I was suprised to learn that Brian Sutherby (of Edmonton) and Tom Poti (of Worcester, Mass.) actually...

Alzner, Godfrey and Bouchard Back to Juniors
Just like the headline says -- defensemen Karl Alzner and Josh Godfrey and winger Francois Bouchard have been returned to their junior teams. All three players showed what kind of players they can be someday -- which is to say quite good. But they aren't ready to play against grown...

Caps Cuts Coming
First off, sorry for the late entry. I didn't get back from Raleigh until 1 a.m. and had to be up early. Although the first round of major training camp cuts won't likely come until Wednesday, the roster is starting to sort itself out. There's no scrimmage today, just three...

Nothing Could Be Finer ...
I just spoke to Nicklas Backstrom, who is mere minutes from making his NHL preseason debut in front of an expected full house here at RBC Center. He sounded confident. The 19-year-old will center a line with Tomas Fleischmann and Francois Bouchard, I'm told. The parking lots around the building...
