Here is to Russia losing, and a Healthy Ovie, Semin, and Varly.

And why would you say that? You must be Canadian.

The only reason to say that is because if Russia loses, especially to Sidney Crosby, will you be able to find someone in the world angrier than Alex Ovechkin? I'm rooting for Russia, but I hope he, Semin, and Varly will still be starving for a Stanley Cup too.

Gotta love the shots of Mama and Papa Ovie and a young #8. Any chance that he has some sheep here?

People (elseblog) have b****ed and moaned about how we gave Nylander a no-movement-clause, and waah-waah-can’t-get-rid-of-him? I’m fascinated about the rest of the players out there with similar clauses, listed in the TSN article. We have NOBODY else with an NMC.

Atlanta: Ron Hainsey, Vyacheslav Kozlov, Pavel Kubina.
Boston:: Zdeno Chara, Marc Savard, Marco Sturm, Derek Morris, Miroslav Satan, Tim Thomas.
Buffalo: Ryan Miller.
Carolina: Ray Whitney, Scott Walker.
Florida: Keith Ballard, Bryan McCabe, Tomas Vokoun.
Montreal: Scott Gomez, Roman Hamrlik, Andrei Markov, Georges Laraque.
New Jersey: Martin Brodeur, Patrik Elias, Jamie Langenbrunner, Jay Pandolfo, Brian Rolston, Colin White.
NY Islanders: Brendan Witt, Bruno Gervais.
NY Rangers: Chris Drury, Wade Redden, Michal Rozsival.
Ottawa: Daniel Alfredsson, Mike Fisher, Jason Spezza, Filip Kuba, Chris Phillips.
Philadelphia: Daniel Briere, Simon Gagne, Scott Hartnell, Kimmo Timonen.
Pittsburgh: Sergei Gonchar, Brooks Orpik.
Tampa Bay: Vincent Lecavalier, Martin St. Louis.
Toronto: Tomas Kaberle, Jean-Sebastien Giguere.
Washington: Michael Nylander.

Anybody want to complain now?

I’m glad we only have the one to deal with… and he’s dealt.

I see the US game is on at 3pm today and the Canada game is on at 8. Does OV and team Russia play today and if so, is it on tv?

Have they announced Janssen's suspension length yet?

Posted by: VTDuffman | February 16, 2010 9:52 AM | Report abuse

no

Posted by: CBT2 | February 16, 2010 9:59 AM | Report abuse

Russia is on at midnight on CNBC

No Janssen suspension yet? Hmmmm. Wonder what the league is waiting for. Perhaps they don't want any negative press that might affect the hockey ratings for the Olympics? (HA!)
Perhaps they won't announce a suspension until the league is geared up to resume play. (Why they would wait so long doesn't seem logical, does it?)
Or perhaps they haven't announced anything because they aren't going to suspend him. (That's my vote because its been 3 days and not a word from anyone)

The league is holding of on Janssen's hearing until he gets back from his vacation.

@Lindsay - Any chance of getting a better closeup of Ovechkin's skates? Enquiring minds want to know what in heck is on the back of the right one! It looks like a lamb... sortof...? Or a demon... or something...

Someone above said Russia is on CNBC. I have it listed as USA Network, either midnight or 12:30 am tomorrow morning.

Check your guide. Americans are on today at 3 and then there's another game, maybe Canada, on around 8. Not sure which channel those games are on though.

What are people's thoughts on getting a 2nd - 3rd line C such as Vinny Prospal or Olli Jokinen. I think either one of them would be a good fit as a 2nd - 3rd line C as a cheap renatl for the playoffs. Just a thought. Either way people are crazy if you don't think we need a stay at home solid D man and a 2-3 line center.

It could be a lamb on Ovie's skates. Ovechkin means "Little Lamb" in Russian.

The U.S. game is on USA, the Canada game is on CNBC.

According to the DirecTV guide last night the Russia game was on CNBC tonight. But it has been wrong before. I'm still bitter about not getting Versus.

No one should be alarmed at the lack of response re Janssen. The league must only act prior to the next game, which is some time from now. Disciplinary action is being considered in this case.

Not sure about anyone else but I am going through Caps withdrawal! I keep refreshing this blog to get some news, gossip, tidbits...I'm not sure I can make it two weeks until the NHL starts again!

Funny picture....looks like Ov and Semin are very hungry for the gold.

(this was a link that was posted on one of the links that CI posted...) Thought I would post it in case some folks did not make it to it.

US up 3-0 on the Swiss in the second period. Goals by Ryan, Backes and Malone. Only 7 shots allowed on Miller through almost 2 periods.
