Video: Ovechkin shoots...and scores! But how?

How does Capitals star Alex Ovechkin score so many goals? Canadian professor and author of "The Physics of Hockey" Alain Hache reveals the science of a slap shot, and what gives Ovechkin his edge. Great quote by Green. Let's hope he really means it.

Great quote by Ted. The fan base owns the team. Lets hope he means it.

Now we have an SI jinx. But I'll take it.

"GMGM hasn't pushed us over the finsh line yet". You sound like we've made it to he the Conferance finals. Hell, if we had beaten Pitt two years ago, we would only have been HALF way there. We haven't even jumped out of the blocks, since we've had Ovi. You have to win 16 games to win the cUp. We've won 6,once. Then folded (as usual)

Cstanton's list of Mcphee activity 4-5 years ago is a riot. Majewsky couldn't even crack the Hershey line up. What a mess!! We definately don't live in a hockey town. GMGM would be done in Montreal after that dung pile of a list.(Not to mention Butch "the cocktail napkin Kid" Casssidy)

Gawd, the comments on this board have become so friggin tiresome. All GM, BB, and Ted have done is build the most exciting team in hockey, by acclaimation among the top 3 in the NHL. GM's signings 5 years ago; getting beat by Nashville in the preseason; Ted Leonsis' lameness -- there is nothing that can't set off loud wails of criticism from the armchair GMs/Coaches/Owners.

let's drop the puck and get on with it already. Sorry about you but I'm looking forward to enjoying the season and post-season

I’m with you Justafan. I am looking forward to watching tonight and going to the Verizon Center tomorrow night.

Justafan. You are right. But at least this board allows one to speak their mind. If you want everyone thinking the same thing and being moderated, you should check out japers rink.

Gotta go with Japers over this stuff...Justafan is spot on.

Lloyd - I've seen your posts on Japers...I think (my opinion) that emotional rants on Japers aren't put up with and its great - you don't get the bashing you get here. If you like sane, stat driven discusion, and can make a point with clarity, you're welcome over there. If you declare so and so is a failure but can't back it up, they pounce on you. They aren't homers over, its about putting people down. It gets tiring and really, do we have to bring it up everyday?

I read both - I'm usually intrigued by Japers and usually laugh on CI.

I'm looking forward most to seeing how our goaltending develops, and the Carlson-Alsner pairing.

Go on ovet to Japer's. We don't care. What exactly have you seen in the playoffs that make you excited about this team ? Alot of pucks in the net during the season, then no desire or team defense in the playoffs. That's what I'm looking at when I'm at the rink come fall each year.

In GMGM's mind he's already won something. What, I don't know. (I guess we won the Ovi lottery and the Calder.)
