Competitors named for NHL skills competition
This year's NHL skills competition will consist of six events, the fastest skater, breakaway challenge, accuracy shooting, hardest shot, elimination shootout and a new relay challenge. Alex Ovechkin will take part in the breakaway challenge and hardest shot competition while Mike Green will participate in the relay and the fastest skater events. All skaters participate in the elimination shootout.
There will be two groups from each team that compete in the relay, which include a one-timer event where three shooters, with the assistance of a passer, must score three goals over an eight inch barrier; a passing event where one player must complete a pass into six nets set up around the rink; a puck control event where players will skate around cones; a stick handling event where a skater maneuvers through obstacles and a four-target accuracy shooting event.
Check out the full list of player assignments for the various events on NHL.com.

Johnny E. should've been picked to participate in the "Most Exciting Fighter" competition, no doubt about it. Just exactly who sits on the panels that pick participants for the events?? BOGUS!!

Emrick and Olczyk are the worst broadcast team in hockey. No idea why they seem to be the league's go-to guys...except of course Olczyk's love of the Pens...

I hope Ovie doesn't whiff during the hardest shot comp.

If you actually have to hit the net with the "hardest shot", he doesn't have a chance. Wait, with no defenseman or goalie in the way, Ovie may actually put 1 in on the hardest shot.
If Erskine was at the all-star game we may actually see the 2nd ever all-star fight (1948 Howe-Mortson only fight I could find).

The Carolina crowd reacted favorably to OV's shooting comp, I was surprised. And 4 Cane's being there, is a bit much...

I wonder if MAF is talking trash like he did on 24/7. Not as profane but colorful.
