Aucoin Sent Down

With the Caps on ice for their first practice of the postseason, Keith Aucoin has been assigned to Hershey while Tom Poti (groin), Boyd Gordon (broken finger), Donald Brashear (sprained knee) have returned to practice and are participating fully.

Meantime, Chris Clark (wrist sugery) is also practicing, though he's wearing the blue jersey that's reserved for injured players. Brent Johnson also worked out on his own, but left the ice when the team came out.

I'll have more after practice.

Wow, I 'd hoped he'd stay. He has provided a lot of energy!

I have received a lot of interest from great Caps fans on this site for the brackets. If anybody else is interested please send me an email to this name at The bracket is very similar to the NCAA tourney. You pick the winning team AND the number of games the series will go. Those that are already in I'll be sending out the official bracket today. Good luck everybody and lets beat up on some Rangers. Should be a great SHORT series!

I must say I was hoping for this series only because I really want a "Revenge tour". I want to meet the Rangers in the 1st round, Devils in the 2nd round and then the Pens in the conference finals. How great of a trip through the Atlantic division would that be on our way to our 1st Stanley Cup victory? I could actually care less who it is in the 2nd round Devs/Canes, I just want to kick the Pens in the conference finals to make it to the Cup.

Kind of bummed about this move. IMO Aucoin makes the 4th line a scoring threat. On the other hand Gordon is a very good PKer for us. Not sure what Brashear brings to the table in a series with the Rangers. What's he going to do? Maybe have the obligatory fight against Colton Orr? Get suckered into taking a penalty by Avery. Brash would be good in a series against the Flyers but I don't think he would be as valuable to us as Aucoin in the first round. Of course both Gordon and Brash coming back means someone will sit from the 4th line anyway.

Was hoping Aucoin would stay as well. He provides a lot of things that make our 4th line effective. I'm sure he'll be back. BB just wants to shore up the playoff spot for Hershey I bet.

I hate that, we need at least one strong scoring threat on each line...
#1: Ovie
#2: Semin
#3: Laich
#4: Aucoin (would have been my pick)

...I guess they know what they are doing!
