Bears Seek Repeat
Perhaps someday we'll be talking about the Caps after Memorial Day, rather than their minor league affiliate. But until then, there's the Hershey Bears, who open defense of their Calder Cup tonight against Hamilton at Giant Center in Hershey, Pa.
From Mike Vogel of www.washingtoncaps.com:
No AHL team has ever won eight straight playoff series in the process of claiming two straight Calder Cup titles. The Hershey Bears are four wins - one playoff series - away from achieving that feat. On Friday night at Giant Center, the Bears will set about the business of claiming those last four victories.
The Hamilton Bulldogs are all that stand between the Bears and a rare title repeat. The last AHL club to claim consecutive championships was the 1990-91 Springfield Indians. Hershey has run up a dominant 12-2 record in the first three rounds of the 2007 playoffs, and the lone blemishes were both suffered in overtime.
Read the whole preview here.
I've said it once, and I'll say it again: If you've never seen a game in Hershey, you don't know what you're missing. Great atmosphere, great prices. And the whole town smells like chocolate.

My husband and I saw a Bears game in March and it was a blast. The crowd gets really into it, and there is such a wonderful local vibe. My husband bought a Hershey Bears jersey, so I know we'll be going back again next season, and quite frankly, I can't wait!
While I bemoan not being able to cheer for the Caps in the post-season, at least we have the Bears!

Go Bears!
Here's an article about Hershey worth reading, IMO.
"(Hershey fans) know good hockey when they see it," Walton continued "and they know bad hockey when they see it."
"They care. They're passionate. They know the game."

It is always a good time in Hershey - the fans are always behind the Bears! Wish we could get 1/2 the support at our games for the Caps!

My husband and I went to the Hershey Bears game last night. Unforuntately, they were trounced 4-0 by the Hamilton Bulldogs. There were a lot of good fights - especially at the end. We are staying up here for the weekend and are attending Game 2 tonight. Hopefully the Bears will turn it around...

Word on the street is Saturday is now sold out. Last report on Friday was that tickets only remained in two sections of the Upper Level (meaning less than 200 were left). LET'S GO BEARS!!! WOOOOO!!!
