Boudreau Bobblehead

For those of you who already set aside space on a desk or shelf for the Bruce Boudreau bobblehead doll, here's a sneak peak of what it will look like. The bobblehead will be given to the first 15,000 fans at the Caps' Friday Nov. 14th game against New Jersey.

That is freaking SWEET!

Posted by: Go Skins Go | September 24, 2008 2:47 PM | Report abuse

Lets hope we are able to watch... this is from Carolinia's website. "The Canes' preseason schedule starts tonight at 7 p.m. against the Washington Capitals in Raleigh. Young players and depth players alike will get the chance to show what they can do in game action. Live streaming video will be available here"

Posted by: Anonymous | September 24, 2008 2:49 PM | Report abuse

That's super

Posted by: AP | September 24, 2008 2:55 PM | Report abuse

What's Jon Miller doing with a trophy?

Posted by: Section 117 | September 24, 2008 2:58 PM | Report abuse

So the Canes will be streaming the game on their website? Sweet.

Posted by: Tim | September 24, 2008 2:59 PM | Report abuse

Awesome.

I don't think they got the chins right, but awesome anyway.

Posted by: Jill | September 24, 2008 3:05 PM | Report abuse

Not a bad likeness for a giveaway bobblehead.

Posted by: Sombrero Guy | September 24, 2008 3:06 PM | Report abuse

The Capitals are giving away a Dick Cheney bobblehead?

All kidding aside, that thing is really, really cool, and makes me wish I was back in DC for the game.

Posted by: John in Mpls | September 24, 2008 3:06 PM | Report abuse

Ya know, for a free bobblehead I thought the likeness was decent.

Posted by: Sombrero Guy | September 24, 2008 3:10 PM | Report abuse

That's great, this and the Bowman one are hillarious.

Posted by: Chief | September 24, 2008 3:12 PM | Report abuse

Thanks for the chuckle, Tarek! Can't wair to checkout the cane-stream!

Posted by: H23 | September 24, 2008 3:52 PM | Report abuse

When does my bobblehead come out?

Posted by: John "sexy lumberjack" Erskine | September 24, 2008 4:32 PM | Report abuse

Credit where credit is due. Looks like Katie snuck this report in to us. Can't wait to get this all started.

Posted by: Mark | September 24, 2008 4:33 PM | Report abuse

Wow, no one claimed to be a STH today or that they used to be a former Caps employee. I'm impressed. Not like stating it gave you any cool points anyways.

See you all at the game tomorrow night.

Posted by: MNMNT | September 24, 2008 4:49 PM | Report abuse

.......And So It Begins.

Posted by: Super | September 24, 2008 5:19 PM | Report abuse

Super. I am gonna be in a meeting tonight and I won't make it home until after the game.

Text me the scores!!!!

Also, lets meet at your house at 530 so we can drink more...No more $8 beers!!!!

Posted by: 94 | September 24, 2008 5:27 PM | Report abuse

OMG I love it!!! I have to have one!!! It's probably the best bobblehead I have ever seen besides the Dwight Bobblehead from the office

Posted by: Puddin_An_Semin | September 24, 2008 5:33 PM | Report abuse

must... have.. that... bobblehead....

but I'll probably be out of the country on Nov 14 :(

Ready for CAPITALS HOCKEY!! (finally!)

Posted by: mauree | September 24, 2008 6:18 PM | Report abuse

@Mauree

Do what I did for the OV bobblehead last season (had a wedding to go to). Buy a ticket, give it to someone you know who is going and tell them to take a friend...but since the friend's ticket is free you get the bobblehead

Posted by: Sombrero Guy | September 24, 2008 6:22 PM | Report abuse

So, has anyone found a way to get the Video Feed from Carolina up here??? I believe they are doing the same thing the caps are tomorrow night.

Posted by: Anonymous | September 24, 2008 6:29 PM | Report abuse

The Bruce bobblehead will have a place of honor right next to the Dwight Schrute bobblehead on my desk. I can't wait! I will be at that game really early!
Go Caps!

Posted by: Ovi Wan Kenobi | September 24, 2008 6:38 PM | Report abuse

I am hoping we can get the feed here: http://hurricanes.nhl.tv/team/console?tab=1

The game feed is under What's New and hasn't started yet - says "Coming Soon." As in around 15-20 minutes from now hopefully.

Posted by: Jill | September 24, 2008 6:40 PM | Report abuse

Thanks Jill. I have ready to go, but am not expecting it to work. The press release claims we can listen to the game on the caps website, but i have spent 10 minutes trying to find where that is (and NHL.com is no help). anybody know???

You would think the "New" NHL would be pushing their content to be as accessible as possible (at least audio as there is contract stuff with video), but this doesnt seem to be the case!

Posted by: Anonymous | September 24, 2008 6:45 PM | Report abuse

Let's go Caps. Finally DC hockey is back.

Posted by: capsin09 | September 24, 2008 6:56 PM | Report abuse

video is working!!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by: Anonymous | September 24, 2008 6:56 PM | Report abuse

thanks Jill! i got video too.

Posted by: fullright | September 24, 2008 6:58 PM | Report abuse

So far, video looks good!

Posted by: oo7 | September 24, 2008 7:00 PM | Report abuse

The Canes feed works, but there are serious audio issues.

Posted by: Jill | September 24, 2008 7:01 PM | Report abuse

they are playing a feed off the Radio (for play by play) along with the feed from the arena that is why it sounds like crap. it would be better once the game starts.

but i still would like to listen to the Caps audio from Vogel. how?

Posted by: Anonymous | September 24, 2008 7:02 PM | Report abuse

Dammit - why does every site use that Flip plug-in crap for streaming. There is no Mac version. F'ers.

Posted by: keef | September 24, 2008 7:06 PM | Report abuse

keef:

Don't ask me how, (I am basically a Luddite), but I am getting it on my Mac

Posted by: uncatim | September 24, 2008 7:11 PM | Report abuse

Keef, if you are worried about the flip-4-mac plug in, dont be. it is a good program and works very well. i dont even realize i have it because it runs very well in the background

Posted by: Anonymous | September 24, 2008 7:14 PM | Report abuse

Finally I am set up with Canes video and Caps audio: http://www.live365.com/stations/wacapitals?site=pro

Posted by: Jill | September 24, 2008 7:15 PM | Report abuse

Any idea of what plug-in you're using to see it?

Posted by: keef | September 24, 2008 7:15 PM | Report abuse

Flip-4-Mac

Posted by: Anonymous | September 24, 2008 7:17 PM | Report abuse

No...sorry.

Anyway the Caps audio is totally out of sync with the video feed so I am back to the crappy Canes audio.

Good news is Flash scored on the PP!

Posted by: Jill | September 24, 2008 7:20 PM | Report abuse

Dammit - why does every site use that Flip plug-in crap for streaming. There is no Mac version. F'ers.

Posted by: keef | September 24, 2008 7:06 PM

Use Firefox; it wont be a problem. You're using safari, arent you? don't. It sucks. Bad.

Posted by: Anonymous | September 24, 2008 7:21 PM | Report abuse

Nice - the version from Apple's site worked. After a year of cussing them out, it finally works. :)

Posted by: keef | September 24, 2008 7:22 PM | Report abuse

the caps audio is about 5 to 8 seconds ahead of the video- im ok with that

Posted by: Anonymous | September 24, 2008 7:23 PM | Report abuse

was that flash on the power play goal?

Posted by: muke | September 24, 2008 7:23 PM | Report abuse

more like 10 i guess

Posted by: Anonymous | September 24, 2008 7:24 PM | Report abuse

Juice just dropped Larose.

That firefox comment was me, by the wya..sorry.

Posted by: oo7 | September 24, 2008 7:25 PM | Report abuse

they are playing the music too much, on my feed, a lil annoying!!! -it's stepping on the commentary.

Posted by: H23 | September 24, 2008 7:27 PM | Report abuse

@Anon

Nope, Firefox. I hate Safari. Ffox wasn't able to find the plug-in and last time I searched for one, it wasn't available but Apple's site came through.

Posted by: keef | September 24, 2008 7:31 PM | Report abuse

Watching a Hurricanes season ticket add while listening to a Caps season ticket add is somewhat surreal

Posted by: Doncosmic | September 24, 2008 7:33 PM | Report abuse

the hurricanes tv announcer sucks

Posted by: Anonymous | September 24, 2008 7:40 PM | Report abuse

I don't think I've seen an opponent in our zone for as long as the 'Canes have been since Hugs was here. ;)

Posted by: keef | September 24, 2008 7:43 PM | Report abuse

I had to switch back to the Caps' audio even if there is a 10-15 second lag. Listening to the Canes announcer AND the audio from the big screen is cruel & unusual punishment. Not to mention, the Canes announcer seems to think Ovie is the Caps' captain, so I trust him on nothing.

keef - you said you were rockin' the Juice jersey on Monday night, right? I saw you.

Posted by: Jill | September 24, 2008 7:50 PM | Report abuse

great first period of pro hockey for our young goalie stud. Shots 18 - 8 canes. Goals 2 - 0 CAPS!

Posted by: Capsfannmiss | September 24, 2008 7:52 PM | Report abuse

End of first period, 2-0 Caps. First goal was Fleischmann/Carlson/Kozlov on the PP, second was Bradley/Laing. Quality on the Canes broadcast is pretty bad but it's followable. Varlamov is kicking butt and taking names out there, especially in the last minute of the first period.

Posted by: this space for rent | September 24, 2008 7:55 PM | Report abuse

Fehr just wiffed a perfect feed.

Posted by: oo7 | September 24, 2008 8:04 PM | Report abuse

Hey, the stats on the caps site have Machesney listed as having played for 7 mintes, and Varlamov playing the rest... is that wrong? Did something happen? Please fill me in...

Posted by: oo7 | September 24, 2008 8:12 PM | Report abuse

For the sake of the Carolina fans, I hope their broadcast team uses the preseason to work the kinks outta their game too.

Posted by: keef | September 24, 2008 8:12 PM | Report abuse

Oh...wow...ummm...I wish we were lucky enough to have Ric Flair wooooing our goals at the Booth.

Posted by: keef | September 24, 2008 8:14 PM | Report abuse

Too many stupid penalties on the Caps side.

Posted by: this space for rent | September 24, 2008 8:22 PM | Report abuse

I can't believe I am hearing Big Bad Voo Doo Daddy as a "you just got a penalty" song

Posted by: Sombrero Guy | September 24, 2008 8:25 PM | Report abuse

machesney has been in the whole period

Posted by: Anonymous | September 24, 2008 8:29 PM | Report abuse

Looks like Flash is going to make the team.

Oneal

Posted by: Oneal | September 24, 2008 8:33 PM | Report abuse

Maybe this will be a breakout year for Flash. A few goals in the preseason could do a lot for his confidence.

Posted by: keef | September 24, 2008 8:34 PM | Report abuse

Cheese is in trouble. Flash looks good. The carolina audio is the same now as what I hear on XM in the season. YEA HOCKEY!

Posted by: Leeguru | September 24, 2008 8:42 PM | Report abuse

End of 2nd period, 4-1 Caps. Perreault gets a goal, Flash gets another one, sorry I missed who got the assists. Machesney took the world's most retarded delay of game penalty -- WTF was that for, Cheese? Lucky the PK team is awake and smoking.

Posted by: this space for rent | September 24, 2008 8:45 PM | Report abuse

I don't have the audio or video feed.. but am I reading the stats right? Varlamov stopped 20 shots in the first? That's crazy.

And then the Caps only give up three shots in the entire second period! (I obviously can't know whether to fault MaChesney on the goal) PLUS Perreault scored.. PLUS Flash has two.. PLUS Ovechkin, Semin, Backstrom and Green aren't even playing..

Holy crap I'm feeling optimistic.

@Oneal

Varlamov was a wall. Looks like he could be the Real Dealâ„¢.

Posted by: keef | September 24, 2008 8:50 PM | Report abuse

Good second period.Caps out shoot canes 12-3. Out goal them 2-1. Totals after 2 periods Caps 4-1 shots 23- 20.

Posted by: Capsfannmiss | September 24, 2008 8:51 PM | Report abuse

Thank goodness for The Hurricane feed. Well, thusfar my faith in Jurcina has been well - founded. He's playing very well. And, Mat Perrault definitely won't be in the AHL very long. Has real good hockey sense, is extremely quick, and best of all, THE PUCK SEEMS TO FOLLOW HIM WHEREVER HE GOES. Carlson won't be with Dale Hunter for two years. That's for sure. He's going to be a real stud!!!
There've only been a couple of guys who've not shown me much. Cutta IMHO is definitely NOT NHL MATERIAL. Lepisto has been shakey. And, "Cheese" doesn't seem to have the confidence NHL goalies need. But, it's only one game. We'll see.
My boy, Osala continues to please me. What I really like about him is his willingness to engage guys down low. He doesn't seem to have any fear in the crease. I LOVE THAT!

Posted by: Puckguru | September 24, 2008 8:51 PM | Report abuse

*nods* Varlamov was a wall out there. Look out below, Johnny, you could be trade bait RSN.

Posted by: this space for rent | September 24, 2008 8:52 PM | Report abuse

This feed is so choppy

Posted by: MNMNT | September 24, 2008 9:04 PM | Report abuse

I'm definitely getting my Huet jersey restitched to Varlamov's.

Posted by: MNMNT | September 24, 2008 9:16 PM | Report abuse

Var-lah-mov? Ma-chess-ney? Jesus, this announcer sucks!

Posted by: Joe | September 24, 2008 9:20 PM | Report abuse

The other player for the Caps that has me goin o.o is Perreault. He's not big, but man does he dance around the defense. That seventh goal against the Flyers was no accident -- he's done the same kind of thing against Carolina.

Posted by: this space for rent | September 24, 2008 9:20 PM | Report abuse

I'm seeing the same play and shots over and over...what the hell?

Posted by: oo7 | September 24, 2008 9:24 PM | Report abuse

Next?

Oneal

Posted by: Oneal | September 24, 2008 9:24 PM | Report abuse

The feed was absolutely crappy and kept doing the broken record thing for me too. I finally jumped it all the way to the end. Game over, Caps win 4-1. Caps allowed just 13 shots in the last two periods -- nice job. Seriously nice job.

Posted by: this space for rent | September 24, 2008 9:26 PM | Report abuse

That wasn't the Canes TV guy. John Forsland (sp), the guy who did a lot of VS games is the normal tv play by play guy. I think that was the radio guy. All i know is I hate when the caps play the canes as I am stuck with the canes feed down here in Raleigh.

Posted by: Mike | September 24, 2008 9:30 PM | Report abuse

mike you can get the caps radio feed off of NHL.com (at least during the regular season)

Posted by: Anonymous | September 24, 2008 9:33 PM | Report abuse

I know, but that requires too much effort. Anyway I am coaching two travel teams down here (who use the old caps eagle logo :) ) so I really don't have much time to catch them on TV anyway

Posted by: Mike | September 24, 2008 10:00 PM | Report abuse

I know last year there was only 5000 of the giveaways -- are we sure its 15,000
dump & chase says the first 5000
