Boudreau: Laich to miss at least two games

Winger Brooks Laich will miss at least the next two games with facial injuries he suffered yesterday in practice when he was struck by a puck, according to Coach Bruce Boudreau.

Boudreau would not get specific about the extent of the injuries.

"Hopefully we'll get him back for Sunday's game," Boudreau said. "It's not a pretty face. And it was a pretty face."

I'll have more later.

Update: Over on the Bog, Dan Steinberg has a video and transcript of Boudreau's comments regarding the steroids investigation.

That stinks. The up side is it gives someone else some more playing time. Glad we're deep.

Poor Brooksie. GMGM's decision to stack us with forwards before the playoffs looks smarter and smarter every day now, though.

That sucks- there goes brooks' consecutive games played streak. It was a beautiful face but something tells me a scar will only make him hotter so don't worry ladies! Maybe this will prompt him to wear a visor though, I think everyone on the team should. If ovie, semin, and green can make the plays they do with the visors it can't be an impediment.

Brooks is the glue on this team. He really makes that second line go. Gonna be hard to beat the pens without him I think.

With Walker, Gordo, and Brooksie out tonight, what are the lines?

8-19-22
28-9-14
25-18-16
53-39-10

Sound good??? Laing is 53, right? If I got that wrong, the 53 I put there is suppossed to be Laing.

Sid is this and more. Don't ask-Don't tell, eh?

AND he didn't shake hands with the other team after winning the Stanley Cup, which no team captain has ever failed to do in the history of the Cup.

My biggest fear just came true. Someone just linked my true love (hockey) to the thing I hate the most in life (FOIA). I work for a FOIA office and I never want to see this connection made again or FOIA ever mentioned in the comments again. Thank you.

Look on the bright side...If Brooks face injury is not going to be serious..he may have other bumps and brusies that can use rest...

I wish he was playing, but he could come back stronger and ready for the playoffs...

is there a place lower than the Bears Carlson can be demoted to?

that sucks, Laich is probably quite upset based on his work ethic not with the injury but with missing a game or two

It makes no sense to work for a place you hate. It would be like me being employed by the Pittsburgh Penguins or if got a job canning beets or if I became a trash man. Get a new job.

I cant find one update from any Pittsburgh sources on Malkins status or their lineup for tonight.

It just shows how great a job Tarik and the WaPo does...it's it is out there and I missed it, please link to it.

ECHL Rays?

No matter how bad Brooks feels, you know that poor kid Calson feels worse.

@tominfl1

Ha, funny you say that. I'm quitting in May and moving to Chicago for a career change.

Associated Press: The NHL is one step closer to a new rule on blindside hits to the head... The league's Board of Governors has unanimously approved the proposed penalty that would ban hits to the head against an unsuspecting player.

Honestly, how will an "MVP candidate" be able to ply her trade with this kind of rule in place?

Posted by: WesternHockeyFan | March 24, 2010 12:23 PM | Report abuse

So is this karma for Brooks saying the tilt versus the hated Penguins was "just another game"?

Just kidding. Get pretty and well soon, Laich.

Posted by: Cerealman | March 24, 2010 12:35 PM | Report abuse

@breaklance: Why is this all Carlson's fault? The guys always goof off after practice, and the shot was an unfortunate ricochet off the crossbar. Laich was the one not wearing a visor.

Get well soon Brooksie! We need you.

LET'S GO CAPS!!!

Here's hoping that Brooksie has a quick and complete recovery, but it's long overdue for the NHL to require visors.

Wrong head, so Sid should be okay.
