Bradley Set To Return

Winger Matt Bradley, who has missed the past 14 games with a broken finger, is expected to return to the lineup tomorrow night against Philadelphia, just a day after having a pin removed from the fractured digit.

Is Bradley is a game breaker? No. But he's a solid NHL forward who brings a high level of energy to every shift, a measure of toughness and is enormously popular with his teammates. So his presence should provide a boost as the Caps go for their third straight win.

Judging from the lines at today's practice, Bradley will likely skate with Donald Brashear and Boyd Gordon. That probably means Jakub Klepis will find himself in the press box.

The other lines remained the same.

On a funny note, toward the end of practice, Alex Ovechkin was goofing around (imagine that) with Alexander Semin. Ovechkin skated in front of the net, turned his stick around like a goalie and faced a couple of shots from Semin. When Ovechkin made a sliding kick save on one of the shots, he got a small ovation from the crowd at Kettlers Capitals Iceplex.

I found out later on that those weren't real pucks. They were foam replicas used for shot-blocking exercises.

Good stuff! Regarding Semin..... will we ever get an in depth story/interview with him where we can learn some things about his background, how he's enjoying his stay with the Caps this time around, etc? It seems like we've heard AO's life story a hundred times over, but Semin remains a bit of an unknown. The more he plays like a superstar, the more curious those of us who follow the team will be about what this guy is all about.

In a totally unrelated story, Tarik: I'm curious about Mike Green's ice time. Why is it always around 16 minutes, with little time in the third period? (I know he's a semi-rook, but it still seems low.) Against ATL he only played 13 mins and not at all in the last 19 minutes of the game.

Pffft foam pucks, we all know that the only reason AO isn't a goalie is because Patrick Roy visited him and asked him not to shatter his records by playing goalie. Its only because Ovy chooses not to put other goalies to shame that he's a LW.

Ovy..the GOALIE!!!!!

I think Olie may have some competition. Sounds like Semin has a wicked sense of humor as the "straight man" to Ovy.

two features I aim to write before the end of the season are on Semin and Brashear.

Tarik,
Again, you are doing a great job covering the Caps. Comprehensive, independent coverage.
Glad to hear Matt's coming back tomorrow. Be sure to let Brash know that are a lot of fans that are happy he's here.

I am really interested in that Semin profile. I have been really curious about him since I saw an interview. He came off as having a poor attitude. Thought maybe Ovechkin got all the glory he might be getting on a different team. Any insight?

PS
how can we keep Ovechkin's mom from getting a bug up het butt and having him delt to a team that sells out every night?

B, I suggest a two-pronged approach:

1) Use proper spelling
2) Don't say things like, "bug up het [sic] butt and having him delt [sic]..."
