Caps Cuts Coming
First off, sorry for the late entry. I didn't get back from Raleigh until 1 a.m. and had to be up early.
Although the first round of major training camp cuts won't likely come until Wednesday, the roster is starting to sort itself out. There's no scrimmage today, just three groups working on systems play. The two groups on the ice now are comprised primarily of roster guys and other folks held in high regard (Chris Bourque, Tomas Fleischmann, Francois Bouchard, etc.).
The career minor leaguers and camp invitees will skate in a separate group later and will be on their way soon.
Update:Interesting line combination of the day: Semin-Nylander-Backstrom.
Update:Coach Glen Hanlon just said he plans to start the season with Michael Nylander and Viktor Kozlov as the No. 1 and No. 2 centers. So I guess that means Backstrom, at least for the time being, is going to be on the wing.
Update:Ovechkin says he's not doing anything tonight for his 22nd birthday. I'm not so sure I believe him.
