Caps Make Minor Signings

The Washington Capitals have signed free agents Kyle Wilson and Jame Pollock to contracts. Wilson, a 22-year-old center, and Pollock, a 28-year-old defenseman, are expected to play for Washington's American Hockey League affiliate in Hershey, Pa., next season.

Wilson had 24 goals and 54 points in only 54 games for the Bears last season and was named the team's rookie of the year. Pollock, meantime, has spent the past three seasons playing in Europe.

Also, today is the last day that players can elect for salary arbitration. Sutherby, Laich, Eminger, Jurcina and Erskine are eligible and I'm pretty sure at least one of them will. The deadline is 5. So I'll update later from Congressional Country Club.

Update 6 p.m.: Jurcina and Laich have elected for arb, according to the NHLPA.
