Caps Name Assistant Coach

The Caps' coaching staff is set.

The team has filled its vacant coaching job from within, naming Blaine Forsythe assistant coach/video, GM George McPhee said. Forsythe was an amateur scout for the Caps last season, but has previously served as Washington's video coach, holding the title in 2006-07 and 2007-08.

"What I like about Blaine is he thinks the way I think," Coach Bruce Boudreau said. "When he's setting up video, he knows what I want to see. It really saves me a lot of time. He's been around hockey a long time and is good at being the eye in the sky and being able to talk to [assistant coach] Dean Evason on the headset and saying this is happening and that's happening."

Boudreau and McPhee have made three changes to the coaching staff this offseason, replacing assistant Jay Leach with Bob Woods, goaltending coach Dave Prior with Arturs Irbe and now Jonas Plumb with Forsythe.

Could someone get traded in the next week to give us something to talk about before camp. And by someone, I mean on our team. I know Heatley and Kessel dominos will fall shortly.
