Caps Re-Sign Steckel and Hunt
Center Dave Steckel has agreed to a two-year contract. This is a critical year for the 25-year-old, who could earn a spot in Washington during training camp. He also could spend the year in Hershey. It's really up to him at this point.
Jamie Hunt, a defenseman, has also re-signed. He is destined for Hershey, but the 23-year-old bears watching.
Update 3:30:Steckel's deal is a two-way this season and one-way next season. If he plays in Washington this season, he will earn $525,000; next season, he will earn 500,000 no matter where he plays.
Hunt's deal is a one-year, two-way contrtact.
Note: I'm going to be in and out over the next few days as I burn up some vacation and comp time. But I'll check in when players sign or other significant stuff happens.
