Clark Hurt
Last night's 3-2 shootout loss to the Sharks isn't the only thing the Caps are worried about this morning.
Their captain, Chris Clark, suffered what team officials are calling an "upper body injury" on his first shift of the third period. Although I didn't get a great look at the hit, I'm told San Jose's Doug Murray laid his shoulder into Clark's head/neck/shoulder really hard.
Clark didn't return, which tells me something. Remember the game against Boston back in November when Clark lost four teeth and still finished his shift?
So you know that this has the potential to be pretty bad. The Caps rarely say much about injuries, and being that they are off today, it's going to be even more difficult to get an update. But I'll try.

Ugh.
Hope he gets nice and healthy for next season and doesn't hurt himself coming back before he should just to finish out the string here.

I saw the hit and it was a solid clean hard hit. I'm surprised he was able to skate to the bench. I'd guess concussion.

Super Duper
Now we get to see Fehr on the top line AND we are all but guaranteed a Lottery pick in the draft.
Get well soon Clarky.
Does this mean the return of the Flash??

Hate to see Clark go because when that line was scoring he was doing the "dirty work" ... Last night on ESPN Barry Melrose said it's time for Ovechkin to start getting his nose in front of the net a little more often, instead of waiting for the cross-ice pass and the one-timer. Interesting.. maybe he'll do that now that Clark's out.
And since there's a new topic I want to re-post the positive news about Sasha Pokulok's comeback from a concussion.
He's back playing again -- down in South Carolina of the ECHL. Already has a goal and four assists in seven games. Interesting schedule down there.. the Stingrays play Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights this weekend! We'll see how he's holding up.

I hope it is and not the staying and promotion of the Zed.

More crappy news. Depending on the length of Clark's injury, and the ever increasing possibility of Zubrus being traded, Ovechkin has lost/is losing his "linemates for life." Now is the chance to start tinkering with combos for next year. Ovechkin and Fehr should play together, so we can see what they've got together
