Ehrm, they're all about the Skins, then the Wizards....then the Caps. :)

It's nice to see them caring during the offseason though.

Good to see Clark looking confident and ready, I too am looking forward to sept, even if I have to go back to work as well.

I see it more as redskins first and then whoever is winning.

I think generally though when everyone sucks it is basically skins, college bball and football, wiz, caps, mystics/united

Posted by: O-V-P | August 13, 2008 8:20 PM | Report abuse

Disregard mystics and united since im not including the nats or summer teams in general

honestly though where else are you getting a big long interview with the captain? and did you see the alex tribute thing they did last week? it was awesome. it's the only place in town doing caps so we shoudl support it

He's ****ing ripped.

I never noticed before, but Clark looks a lot like Craig Laughlin. Maybe Clarks' mom was a hockey groupie back in the 80's.

Is Clark wearing Ovechkin #8?

I don't know about you guys, but after reading that last thread about Gordon, when it comes to Chief, one of the things that I am most amused by (other than his rosy outlook on life in general) is his feeble attempt at insulting other readers of this blog.

The thought of him getting excited and high fiving himself in the mirror after coming up with such brilliant zingers as "little wrister" for Bigontimer, or "JClown" for Jschon is pretty funny.

This reminds me of one of the few times I bothered replying to one of his standard cut and paste rants, and Chief replied by calling me "julio" or "jose" or something along those lines. To me, this seems to indicate that Chief considers calling someone a Latino name to be an insult. This would only be the case if he also thought there were negative connotations associated with Latinos in general.

From this, I can only conclude that Chief is not just a troll, but a racist troll.

That's right, Chief is a racist.

I don't think he's malevolent racist, in fact I think he's pretty harmless. I think he is more like an Archie Bunker type of racist. The kind you chuckle at, then walk away from shaking your head at the absurd things you just heard him say.

And back to hockey, I am glad that Clark seems so confident.

Sombrero, you think that Chief wouldn't get a Gomez jersey if he were a Cap?

Oh man, if you haven't checked out JP's latest post today, you need to:

It's good to see that Clark is staying in shape while he is injured.

If it was Backstrom, he would have to rolled out on a fat bed.

This guy will never be the same.

We need to get rid of him so we can keep Gordon.

Oh, and Greg Wyshynski is STILL ducking Tarik.

Thanks keef, that was funny as he@@

Posted by: Steve R | August 14, 2008 11:30 AM | Report abuse

it sounds like he's ready, but if Clark is not the same player he was prior to the injury, that is going to be a huge problem for the Caps. RW is our greatest weakness on offense already, and unless somebody steps it up this season (paging Mr. Fehr) it's going to take some real creativity to overcome.

I am sorry to ask this but where is the report or pictures of Backs being fat or out of shape. I must have missed that one.

Posted by: 94 | August 14, 2008 12:37 PM | Report abuse

There were pics of Backs at a camp in Sweeden floating around a couple of weeks ago. He was looking a wee bit chubby.

That russian Ovie interview-spot-thing was hilarious. He gives way better interviews in russia. You know what I hate? I hate it when reporters ask questions like "how great is it..." seriously, can these people not think of better questions? What the hell? Isn't their job to come up with good questions? Is any research being done before the mouth opens?

Ok, so what exactly is the deal with Wyshynski and Tarik? I've been a bit out of the loop and hadn't heard anything.

Thanks for indulging me if this has already been beaten to death.

@Steve R

Heh. I think that is about as likely as him having 99.1 on his radio dial.

Interesting re-cap of the Capitals Draft picks by year, with a small blurb on each player drafted, and their subsequent hockey history

Interesting fact about Alex Semin: Only player drafted by Washington in a span of 12 drafts (1991-2002) who has scored 30 or more goals in a season for the Caps.

Posted by: Sombrero Guy | August 14, 2008 1:48 PM | Report abuse

ah, 99.1. It may be showing my age, but back in the day, that was the ONLY good alt radio station in the area.

Posted by: bigonetimer | August 14, 2008 2:31 PM | Report abuse

Sombrero- I think that stat sccurately sums up a lot of the hostility towards the GM prior to last season. Green, Semin and Ovechkin have taken some pressure off that point. But when all is said and done, one 30 goal scorer out of an entire decade of drafting is pretty poor. Mcphee isn't to blame for for 91 to 98, obviously. But all the waiver wire trash that never did anything (even before they got to the caps), the extremely questionable acquisitions, the bad blood with some players/fans, the drafting that never gave us anything to really be 'excited' about (we'll know in a few years, ahem, yonkman, pokoluk...), Cassidy, Kip Miller, man its getting to be a long list.
If Ovie wasn't here we would have never seen Semin again.
In Short, Ovie, BB and Mikey saved his job.
That stat made me feel yucky.

I hear ya, but I also think the Caps successes since 2002 can be partially attributed to an increased investment in scouting. I don't disagree that GMGM's job was saved by the post thanksgiving turnaround. He owes Bruce a steak dinner or seven.

If it were still around it would still be the only good alt station. Radio in the area is garbage.

Posted by: bobOH | August 14, 2008 4:10 PM | Report abuse

it is showing your age. you must be relatively young considering the change happened only about 3-4 years ago.

Back in the day was the 1980's for me. If you don't know / weren't born yet when the real HFS was in its prime, once Infinity Broadcasting started force feeding the 'modern rock' genre and gradually got rid of the indie format, that's really when it changed (for the worse).

Posted by: bigonetimer | August 14, 2008 5:18 PM | Report abuse

Where the hell did Clark get that ugly shirt? BTW, with all due respect, Ovechkin should be the captain. Clark should have the fortitude to turn it over.
