Defenseman Jeff Schultz Headed To Hershey
Schultz made the roster out of training camp, but he hasn't played in Washington's first three games. While he'd probably prefer to stay in the NHL, the team feels it's important for him to play. So he's off to the AHL.
There is no corresponding move at the moment, I'm told. Defenseman Steve Eminger remains on IR. The reason Eminger is no longer shown on NHL.com as being on IR is because the Caps have requested that the league no longer show the team's IR designations.
Update:After talking to some folks today, I'm getting the feeling that Caps sent Schultz down because they are planning to recall a forward, just in case Semin isn't able to play this weekend. It's probably to early to say that Semin won't be ready, but it's looking kind of doubtful.
Update:I'm also told that the Caps Fan Club is traveling to Buffalo for Saturday's game. They'll be in section 118. Why Buffalo? I guess as payback for all the Sabres fans who regularly invade Verizon Center. Either way, it will be nice to see some familiar faces in the crowd.
