Fehr Day-To-Day (Updated)

Eric Fehr appeared to suffer a left shoulder injury when he collided with the glass while throwing a check in the second period. The right wing appeared to be in serious pain and has not returned to the game.

Update:According to a team, Fehr is day-to-day with a shoulder injury. I'll hope to a get a few more details after the game.

"Serious Pain", I would say so myself. He was on the verge of crying. For those who didn't see him on the bench, he was trying to hold his left shoulder as he floundered in agony. Another Cap out on injury. OUCH!!!

Please Eric, be okay. Your my favorite good looking hockey player!

Bears update:
Bears leading Hartford 3-2 with Bears goals from Max Lacroix, Francois Bouchard, and Pat McNeill. GMGM is at the game, so I guess he can take someone along to Carolina with him when he leaves tonight.

tess- i'm gonna laugh to keep from crying. thanks for the update.

Time to call up Frankie Bouchard

Posted by: ButterSchultz | December 6, 2008 9:01 PM | Report abuse

Alright, the collective Flyers and Pens fans can put down the voodoo dolls. This is just getting ridiculous. Fehr certainly looked like he was in a great deal of pain. I wish him a swift recovery from whatever it is.

Idiot refs!

Posted by: rachel216 | December 6, 2008 9:04 PM | Report abuse

Where can we fit the red cross logo on our jersey's?

Posted by: benguiin43 | December 6, 2008 9:06 PM | Report abuse

Of course, I could be looking at it all wrong and its actually Bridgeport fans with the voodoo dolls, hoping they can deplete Hershey of players.

Well it sounds (heavy emphasis) that Fehr just jammed it, so that's potentially encouraging.

Posted by: Section117 | December 6, 2008 9:14 PM | Report abuse

no way.

Posted by: jmu_capsgirl | December 6, 2008 9:14 PM | Report abuse

So just to be clear, OV wasn't hooked or triped on his almost breakaway chance? But he did hook the Toronto guy? If thats the case I'm Brad Pitt.
The second penalty was just flat stupid though.

So it looks like Atlanta will win and Florida will lose. PHI-CAR is tied 1-1 with 3 minutes to play. BUF-TB is tied 3-3 at the start of the 3rd.

Posted by: GregAnnapolis | December 6, 2008 9:24 PM | Report abuse

4-2 Hershey late in the 3rd.

Posted by: Erika29 | December 6, 2008 9:26 PM | Report abuse

Wow, Hershey is amazing, but when are they going to get fed up with us stealing all their players? and I thought Fehr was about to break out, too...

Posted by: honed | December 6, 2008 9:30 PM | Report abuse

rachel: me too, but they just showed a replay and it was off the post.

PHI-CAR is now entering OT.

DONE. RED WINS. We're unbelievably depleted and we're still winning the games we're supposed to. I can't believe it.

Johnny played a strong game. Good job, Johnny.

Haha I love the empty netter attempt by Brent Johnson.

What a great win! Let's go Caps!!!

I loved the boys on the blue line playing physical. they were hitting guys and moving them from out front. that was an inspired group tonight. lets hope they keep it up tomorrow, right?

Posted by: lamplighter1 | December 6, 2008 9:39 PM | Report abuse

stupid blog my whole message justvwent poof.
fehr looked like he was in more than day to day pain.
jurcina heeded my advice to stop aiming. ( because it's all about me).
johnny looks great. this team keeps plugging along. good that Toronto was so tired.
no hooking on that ovie breakaway; total bs.
another injury. gmgm must have bad heartburn tonight.

Huet loses a shootout at home against Detroit, and Tampa Bay just let one in, they're down 4-3 with 9 minutes to play.

Posted by: GregAnnapolis | December 6, 2008 9:44 PM | Report abuse

Canes got 1 point.

Posted by: rachel216 | December 6, 2008 9:45 PM | Report abuse

when do we start touting BB for another Jack Adams? I think the job he's done plugging guys in and seeing them be successfull is amazing. I would think that there aren't too many teams or organizations out there who could replicate what the caps front office and coaches have done. They are to be applauded.

Posted by: lamplighter1 | December 6, 2008 9:45 PM | Report abuse

lamplighter, how about bob woods for the adams. all his guys are playing in the nhl anyway...

Posted by: dcsportsfan1 | December 6, 2008 9:47 PM | Report abuse

OK...thats not only funny and sad at the same time, but TRUE!! how bad is that??

Posted by: lamplighter1 | December 6, 2008 9:49 PM | Report abuse

Vlad Crapatureanu loves men!!!!! (he's a not-so-closet homosexual). Honestly, for a good time call 703-408-3693.

Congratulations to Johnny! Our D-men looked great tonight, and to think that the Alzner-Juice D-line was our scoring victory! Nice job, guys!

Posted by: plinkwired | December 6, 2008 9:51 PM | Report abuse

In the interest of honesty...I was one of the guys screaming into the wind that Jurcina should be sent packing. I would like to say that I might have been....maybe...wrong.

Fehr is day to day.....

Unfortunately, in Washington, the days of the week are October, November, December, January, February, March, and April...

Posted by: aybee27 | December 6, 2008 9:54 PM | Report abuse

pretty cool that alzner got his first goal in TO. i think i read he grew up a leafs fan. i always thought it would suck scoring your first goal in columbus or nashville. you've got your prized puck mounted with those stupid logo's on it...i'd probably get over it knowing i scored an nhl goal..

From the previous thread: If Semin was made LTIR, the club has all the room in the world to bring up anyone. I don't think (from other posts and reading the CBA) they get retroactive credit - but, going forward, you get $4.6M/per year/per day to bring up replacements for Fehr, whomever. As a for instance, you can bring up the most expensive Hershey people still there, Osala, Bouchard, OK - the rest of them are $475K - and Semin more than offsets. With Semin now LTIR, and he can come back anytime since he has missed the 24 days/10 games, the cap is no issue.

My 3 stars tonight:

#1 Alzner. Goal, assist, good positioning.
#2 Jurcina. Goal, several blocks and takeaways.
#3 Split between Boudreau and George McPhee. How many of you made blog entries jumping for joy when Sloan, Helmer and Collins were signed this past summer? I would be perfectly happy with Sloan and Helmer on the roster the rest of the season, including playoffs. Maybe with Helmer as #7 d-man? Green, Poti, Morrisonn or Lepisto, Alzner, Jurcina, Sloan and Helmer works for me. McPhee put this club in position to weather injuries and Boudreau, with the "system," put the players in position to replace one another.

SOLID performance, tonight. With the way things were going I thought Johnny would have gotten the shutout. Unfortunate he didn't, though. He was outstanding, and that post to post save he made in the 2nd period was unbelievable!

I'm becoming more and more impressed with Alzner. A bit iffy with the first couple games, but now he has been rock solid. And tonight he was an offensive threat. Congrats to him for getting his first NHL goal.

Very impressed with Jurcina, tonight. He used his body, tons, was solid in the back, and notched his second goal of the season.

I really like Acoin. Especially the fact that he is so small, and yet he's willing to go in front of the opponent's net, take the abuse, and make it harder for their goaltender. His speed helps as well.

Collins looked shaky in the beginning, but he settled down as the game went on.

All in all, I'm very impressed with Caps depth on the blueline. I'm very excited for this franchise's future.

As for the injures, again BEYOND RIDICULOUS!

Now, go to Carolina and whip the Canes in their house. Welcome the new coach to an old tradition: Caps win, Canes lose.

Man, the thing that just has me wearing an even stupider grin than usual is that even though it seems the Bears are all called up and the skate sharpener guy must be playing on their second line we just keep hearing about win after win from Hershey. I've just got to get there and catch a game, wait - they'll come to me!

Posted by: TheCapitalist1 | December 6, 2008 10:27 PM | Report abuse

WooHOO! THAT, boys and girls, was solid hockey! Alzner for the two-point game!

How did Ovechkin wind up with the first star, though? I'm confused! His second penalty led to the Leafs' power play goal. Not that I'm sayin' Ovie isn't a great all-around player - and did anyone else notice? He turned his stick aside as Alzner's puck sailed past him. He could have smacked it for good measure, and didn't. Now that is class!

@CapaZorch - a little optimism here, please? Pretty please?

Posted by: irockthered | December 6, 2008 11:26 PM | Report abuse

Well I can say that the Leafs crowd sounded like the Verizon Center during our rebulding years. I saw a few Ovechkin jerseys in each section, and had a lot of people tell me they were not leafs fans, just in town for the weekend and wanted to see Ovechkin play.

It was a good time, Toronto is a great city but these days the Verizon Center has a LOT more life.
