Fehr Is Out

It's official: right wing Eric Fehr, fresh off notching his first goal of the season against Tampa Bay, is a scratch tonight. Some reward, huh? As for the rest of the lineup, I'm told it will be the same as this morning's.

Check back later for post-game notes, quotes and reaction to tonight's battle for first place in the Southeast Division.

I'd sit Kozlov and play Fehr. Get a rythem going. Kozzie might as well rest up. Unless he wasn't 'injured'. Maybe the point was to say "See, right behind you my friend, the shark is right behind you."

I agree...Koz should come back when 100% so not to reagravate the injury meanwhile allowing Fehr some ice time

The Hurricanes coach looks very worried...as if he knows what's in store...Caps Goals, and lots of them!

Posted by: MReilly9 | November 12, 2008 7:34 PM | Report abuse

Its starting to look like the BEAST has awoken

Posted by: doncosmic | November 12, 2008 7:35 PM | Report abuse

stop it with these penalties please

Posted by: rachel216 | November 12, 2008 7:38 PM | Report abuse

Michael Leighton in goal...He's a guy who has bounced around the minors for awhile. I remember him in Norfolk and Albany. He always played strong against the Bears. But I think he's one of those guys who gets rattled if you get one or two past him early in the game.

---------------------
I think he's rattled. Now if only the Caps could stay out of the box.

Posted by: tess2201 | November 12, 2008 7:38 PM | Report abuse

Semin was almost a goat there, that was the worst clearing attempt I have ever seen

Posted by: doncosmic | November 12, 2008 7:43 PM | Report abuse

tess: Exactly.

I want to see exactly one thing change in the way we're playing: the number of penalties. KNOCK THAT CRAP OFF. Otherwise, keep that up for the next 40 minutes, don't let up, don't give them any breathing room at all, and this game is ours.

Posted by: kittypawz | November 12, 2008 7:45 PM | Report abuse

Well the allstar balloting is starting, our guys on the ballot are definately making an impression in this one

Posted by: doncosmic | November 12, 2008 7:45 PM | Report abuse

Kabam! Three big goals from three big guns! Nice. Now block out Stahl on the stuff attempts.

Posted by: JIMALLCAPS | November 12, 2008 7:47 PM | Report abuse

the allstar balloting page is really slow and a pain in the a$$

Posted by: JIMALLCAPS | November 12, 2008 7:55 PM | Report abuse

Ahhhh the decisions becasue the team has depth, can't keep everyone in the line-up. Fehr is gonna get into alot of games before it is all said and done. Give it time.

Need a good solid 2nd period!!!!!!

Sit Juice. Cut off his arms. Do something, because he makes the Sexy Lumberjack look good!

Posted by: Leeguru | November 12, 2008 7:59 PM | Report abuse

OH CRAP DX

Posted by: kittypawz | November 12, 2008 8:01 PM | Report abuse

Ohhhhh....... thats not what I needed to hear

Posted by: doncosmic | November 12, 2008 8:01 PM | Report abuse

uh oh here comes josie to ruin this game for us

Posted by: rachel216 | November 12, 2008 8:02 PM | Report abuse

On a positive note, Josie normally only sucks in the first period, so maybe he'll be great????

Posted by: doncosmic | November 12, 2008 8:03 PM | Report abuse

Ovie!!!!
Was it a sweet goal or a tap in?!!
Can't wait to see the highlight

So does this mean I have to miss the 1st period from now on for Ovie to score a goal that matters?

Posted by: austinsteve | November 12, 2008 8:04 PM | Report abuse

Tarik, when you get back and see this, fill us in on what happened to Johnson pls ... I hope this isn't serious.

Posted by: kittypawz | November 12, 2008 8:09 PM | Report abuse

Our D must tighten up, awesome save by Jose though

Posted by: rachel216 | November 12, 2008 8:09 PM | Report abuse

Alex S....Awesome!

Posted by: MReilly9 | November 12, 2008 8:17 PM | Report abuse

GOALLLLL!! that was SOO cute! Semin didn't realized he scored and then did a little hop! that was so cute

Posted by: rachel216 | November 12, 2008 8:19 PM | Report abuse

ok, now the beast has definately awoken, the two Alexes are unstoppable on the same line

Posted by: doncosmic | November 12, 2008 8:20 PM | Report abuse

OMG stop taking idiotic penalties

Posted by: rachel216 | November 12, 2008 8:23 PM | Report abuse

Does anyone know what's in the box that Juice likes so much?

Posted by: Boo- | November 12, 2008 8:25 PM | Report abuse

I'm thinking Lav is gonna pull the keeper if we score again ...

Posted by: Boo- | November 12, 2008 8:28 PM | Report abuse

Juice's last penalty was worth it. Stahl iced and kicked the goalie. If the refs won't watch out for the Caps netminder (see Johnson's injury), then the Caps will. Glad to see that punk smacked by Juice.

Posted by: JIMALLCAPS | November 12, 2008 8:40 PM | Report abuse

The Caps are taking far too many penalties, but I'm glad to see the way the PKers are agressive instead of laying back like they have been.

Nice stickhandling by Brashear behing the Canes' goal. Amazing cycling going on in the Canes' zone.

The Caps don't need more goals tonight but I hope they keep the offensive pressure on.

Come on Semin, only Let's see that hat trick!

Posted by: rw-c | November 12, 2008 8:46 PM | Report abuse

That was supposed to be:
Come on Semin, only four points tonight?
Let's see that hat trick!

Joe B

Posted by: rw-c | November 12, 2008 8:48 PM | Report abuse

they keep running our goalies
Where the h-ll is Brashear or Clark

Posted by: MReilly9 | November 12, 2008 9:07 PM | Report abuse

Actually Backstrom!

Posted by: MReilly9 | November 12, 2008 9:08 PM | Report abuse

Semin has 5 point tonight - so far. Backstrom 4 points, Ovechkin 3 points.
