First Period Domination

If the Caps play like that for the next 40 minutes, this series is going back to Philly for a Game 6.

I thought that was, by far, the Caps' best period of the playoffs -- and they've got Cristobal Huet to thank for it. If he doesn't stop Daniel Briere on that semi-breakway around the 5-minute mark, the whole period might have gone in a different direction. The Flyers, by the way, didn't register a shot on goal for the next 15 minutes.

Great first period. Too bad they fouled Ovie or it would have been 2-0.

On Backstrom, on Kozlov, on Green and Ovechkin!
On Semin, on Gordon, on Fehr and Morrisonn!
To the top of the crease,
Plant Briere to the wall!
Score forwards, score D-men, score for us all!

Go Caps!
Go Caps!!
Go Caps!!!
Go Caps!!!!

Ovechkin blowing up some flyer into the bench is priceless, he's like a video game. My only concern is you know the Flyers going into game wanted to wait out the first period storm. To only be down 1 is almost a small victory for them. The Caps need that same intensity for the next 40 minutes to win this game.

Finally! They're playing the way we knew they could play! If only they'd shown that kind of spirit throughout the series, they would be closing out the series for themselves today. Great first period but still two long ones to play. They've got to keep it up!

LOVE this energy!

This NBC technical coverage is really amateurish -- they keep losing sound (although I shouldn't complain, game's a lot better without announcers).

There's 18,006 Caps out there on ice.

Brash looks a little like Mr. T with the beard.

Anyone else feel like Philly just wants to win the series at home?

Pierre is such a moron!

Posted by: Leeguru | April 19, 2008 2:32 PM | Report abuse

They keep talking about how bad the ice is. Don't they realize the Caps are used to playing on crappy ice?

It's the special "Caps Rules" they added for the playoffs.

Morons! He didn't whiff -- he pulled it between his legs, which is one of his goto moves. If they'd done a little bit of research, they'd know that.
