First Period (Update)
While the Capitals are out shooting the Predators 10-2 as we eclipse the half way point in the first period, they failed to capitalize on their first two opportunities with the man advantage.
The Predators came into today's game with the 26th-ranked penalty kill unit in the league, stopping opponents just 75.6 percent of the time.

1-0 Caps, Kozlov from Green at 12:13
Only about a minute after Predators goaltender Dan Ellis made a strong save on Tomas Fleischmann, the Capitals got past him with a strange goal. Mike Green threw the puck to the front of the net from behind the goal line, the puck appeared to hit Ellis' skate and stick then popped out to where Viktor Kozlov could easily knock it into the net over the sprawled out Ellis.

Predators defenseman Ville Koistinen beats Jose Theodore with a 58-foot slap shot that travels over his shoulder as he was moving from his right to left across the crease.
Update:
2-1, Capitals short-handed goal, Steckel from Semin at 15:38
Dave Steckel scores his second short handed goal of the young season even though he appeared to lose control of the puck as he skated in on Ellis. But as Ellis was making the move to get over the loose puck went through his legs.
*At the end of the first period the Capitals are out shooting the Predators by an impressive 19-4. Coming into tonight's game the Caps were averaging just 8.87 shots per first period (71 through eight games).

why didn't we start Johnny he's been playing great this season, and Theodore has been really shakie with one or two exceptions

Wow we're playing some of the best hockey of the season and Versus is depriving us of it. it's fine that they're not showing it but not letting anyone else show it is just ducked up
