Fleischmann assisgned to Hershey

A few pre-morning skate notes from Nassau Coliseum:

*Tomas Fleischmann's road back to the NHL will begin in Hershey. The winger, who is recovering from a blood clot in his leg, has been assigned to the Bears for a conditioning stint and will be available to face the Binghamton tonight. He also could play against Portland tomorrow.

*Alexander Semin has not rejoined the Caps on Long Island, so it's probably safe to say he won't face the Islanders tonight. It will be the second straight game Semin has missed while recovering from an undisclosed injury/illness.

*Michael Nylander had a productive night in his debut for Grand Rapids. The veteran center had three assists - all on the power play, including an empty netter - to help the Griffins beat Abbotsford, 5-3. Nylander did not have a shot on goal, finished the night even and was named the second star.

I'll have a little more after the Caps skate.

So now we see the News Flash on Tomas Fleischmann -- assigned to Hershey for conditioning

Hope to see Semin on Tuesday against Philthy.

If he's got the flu, airline flights are probably not the best thing for anyone with any kind of respiritory problem.

funny....there is room for conditioning in Hershey for Flash, but none available for NYLS...give the guy some credit (NYLS) for at least being professional about all of this. He can at least still dominant in the minors. I wonder when was the last time he played in the minors.

Fine on all counts. Flash - probably best and I was kind of expecting this. I'm going up to Hershey tonight, so I get to see him. :)

Semin - with the flu scares going around, an airplane is no place for anybody with respiratory issues. Let him recover. I'd like to see him Tuesday against Philly, but I'm in no hurry to see him in the lineup tonight if he's still ill.

Good on Nylander! I wish him all the luck and goals in the world. He deserves to play somewhere, and since it's not going to happen with the Caps, good that it happens somewhere.

@RichC3: The difference is that Flash is a winger, while Nylander is a center. Hershey's deep at center, but at wing not so much.

No, the difference is that Flash is part of this team's future. Nylander is not.

Semin was skating with a coach at KCI this morning and looked like his energy was down. I'm guessing he's been sick.
