George McPhee to speak at sports industry conference

By Gene Wang

Washington Capitals General Manager George McPhee is scheduled to be part of a special panel at the Sports Industry Networking and Career (SINC) conference March 4-5 at George Washington University.

McPhee, who is in his 13th season as Washington's general manager, will join D.C. United President Kevin Payne on a panel entitled "The Two Sides of the House -- Player Development and Business" that will outline the day-to-day responsibilities of a sports executive. McPhee also will discuss his career path and how to get started in the industry.

Is he going to lecture the audience on how NOT to build a Stanley Cup Winning Organization and how to become a puss at the Trade Deadline? Get ready Caps because this line is coming...."I'm not going to leverage the future of this organization for one year." AKA, "I'm too scared to make big boy decisions...." Screw you.

I assume George will tell them that if they draft like him,

"You'll be living in a van, down by the river!!"

The main topic to this lecture will be, THE SCARF, How to wear it and where to get a nice one :)

Fluff, filler, no hockey news article.

Tell us about interviewing GMGM and asking him about what direction he is going in for the trade deadline. Tell us about something you have to get out of your chair to find out.

B. Gordon
Chris Bourque

What a waste of draft picks, eh?

The official title of the panel should read, "How I am still employed in the sports business."

GMGM and Payne have made many missteps since assuming the roles with their respective organizations.

Enough is enough.
