Green Has MRI
GM George McPhee just confirmed that defenseman Mike Green had an MRI exam on his injured right shoulder earlier today. But McPhee said the results of that exam won't be known until after the game (doctors are studying the images right now).
Green was hurt when he was checked by Anaheim defenseman Chris Pronger in last night's 6-4 win at Honda Center. Green lost his balance after Pronger delivered the high hit behind the goal, which sent him hurtling into the end boards early in the first period.
Green did not return to the game and did not skate this morning.

whoa, GMGM admitted that a player had a medical procedure? did he actually say it was on his shoulder? i'm frankly surprised he confirmed that mike green plays for the Caps. a new era of openness...
Posted by: dcsportsfan1 | November 20, 2008 9:25 PM | Report abuse
If it's a rotator cuff injury the shoulder is never quite the same. Fairly common, but not career/performance threatening.

Here's hoping nothing too serious, although it could still be a long time healing.
Let us know, Tarik.

austinsteve,
Yikes, don't say rotator cuff stuff bro. Remember Calle Jo was taken off the line for some time and I don't think he really was the same after that hit in Boston.
I'm hopin' Green is just abit sore and nothing less. We are winning now but if Semin, Feds, and Green were to be out in Feb-March, that would be well, substantial.
Needless to say, I'd rather have them all back and us be whinning about unfair scratches and such ya know?

Posted by: Section117 | November 20, 2008 11:19 PM | Report abuse
The kings are looking sharp tonight. Their Defense is very disruptive to the Caps attack. Additional note - the ice there in LA looks terrible. Lots of players slipping/losing an edge - even the linesman lost his edge. Puck is moving very slow on the ice and passes look terrible. This could be a slow & painful game.

oo7, the nice part of me says "Not too much longer, I hope. Poor guy." However, the semi-malicious part of me that hates Melrose says "All season, please!"
Please not that trade. Not that my vote counts, but I vote no. Not a fan of Byfuglien or Sopel.
Posted by: jmu_capsgirl | November 21, 2008 12:25 AM | Report abuse
I keep reading all these Nylander-for-Byfuglien trade rumors [and it's pronounced Buflin, in case you didn't know]and I don't know what I think of it. I saw Byfuglien play two seasons when Norfolk was Chicago's farm team. He was one of those guys you hated to play against but would probably love to have on your team. He doesn't score a ton of goals, but you kind of held your breath when you saw him hanging out near the crease. He plays very physical and is kind of an agitator. I'm not sure where he'd fit in our lineup, which line I'd put him on.

the kings beat us fair and square tonight BUT i'm 100% tired of Clark. Nothing needs to be said, I think most of us see it. Our actual captain blocked two shots with his hands and scored with 4 mins left to give us ALL the mo...until Clark took his latest braindead backbreaking penalty. His utility on this team has oficially sunsetted.

As much as losing Nylanders contract might improve our cap situation, I don't think the Chicago players are the solution. 4.875 million for 5.3 million doesn't seem like that much of a deal to me, no matter how awful Nyls appears to be playing. Maybe there's another team involved? If it does happen, I pray that there's another team involved.
