Green Injured? (Updated)

Mike Green absorbed a hard, high hit from towering Ducks defenseman Chris Pronger late in the first period and missed his final few shifts while being tended to in the dressing room. Green lost his balance as Pronger checked him behind the goal and appeared to hit his right shoulder and head on the end boards.

I'm waiting on a update from the Caps.

Update:Green will not return. That's all the team will say at this point. I hope to have more on his status after the game.

I give Parros 1 point for the porn stash
1 for more punches thrown.

Donnie 1 point for better punches thrown, and 1 point for the take down.

I thought porn stash was what Mom found under my brother's mattress.

Posted by: uncatim | November 19, 2008 11:17 PM | Report abuse

Do you believe Parros has a bachelor's degree in economics from Princeton? Now that's a bad economy when you gotta fight for a living instead...

Posted by: Roose | November 19, 2008 11:19 PM | Report abuse

It's only fair that Green's out, the guy's a turnover machine who doesn't play defense.

Posted by: Section117 | November 19, 2008 11:21 PM | Report abuse

ducks are a rough team. rougher than I remember. I remember them leading the fight category, but I havnt seen them this season yet.

Posted by: oo7 | November 19, 2008 11:21 PM | Report abuse

@Section117

Pretty good plus/minus for a turnover machine - and power play goals don't count.

Posted by: Roose | November 19, 2008 11:26 PM | Report abuse

@ Roose --- that was funny as hell.

Posted by: goskinsgo | November 19, 2008 11:27 PM | Report abuse

Refs like the sound of the whistles, don't they? They're sure playing them tonight!

Posted by: Greg S. | November 19, 2008 11:28 PM | Report abuse

still haven't seen him since the hit. I was thinking the same thing and figured i'd check to see if anything had been posted.

As for Parros, I always think Gallagher

Posted by: SombreroGuy | November 19, 2008 11:28 PM | Report abuse

That doesn't look good! Ovie on his knees?

Posted by: Greg S. | November 19, 2008 11:30 PM | Report abuse

Parros looks like a cast-off of that '70s swinger show that failed on CBS. He probably has a big collared, multi-colored, polyester shirt, searsucker pants, and platform shoes in his locker for after the game.

it's going to be a violent 3rd period.

Posted by: oo7 | November 19, 2008 11:38 PM | Report abuse

Yeah Brads!

Definitely don't see the Caps get pushed around like this that much, definitely not good, they're gonna be banged up tomorrow and without Greenie Feds or Mo better be ready to step back in.

Posted by: moondue8 | November 19, 2008 11:38 PM | Report abuse

by the way, if nyls trade was all but done, he wouldn't be playing. food for thought. most of you probably know that already.

Posted by: oo7 | November 19, 2008 11:40 PM | Report abuse

David lee suckssomething aweful. embarrasing. why do they always start talking about NBA or NFL? we're obviously hockey fans. idiots.

Posted by: oo7 | November 19, 2008 11:43 PM | Report abuse

its a shame nyls has to play on the 4th line, he's messing up Brash's stats.

Hate to say it, but if we could trade both nyls and clark, and bring up laing and bourque this team would be better.

Posted by: goskinsgo | November 19, 2008 11:44 PM | Report abuse

That's the Pronger Effect. When Prongs joins a team they start getting ugly.

Posted by: Greg S. | November 19, 2008 11:44 PM | Report abuse

Hope the boys can hold the lead, and hope Greenie is ok (even though I b*tched about him earlier!) I'm off to bed.

Posted by: tess2201 | November 19, 2008 11:46 PM | Report abuse

I'm sorry. I loved what Laing brought to the team last year, but we really don't need him up here. He's too one dimensional. Granted, it's a great dimension.

Posted by: Greg S. | November 19, 2008 11:47 PM | Report abuse

its nice to see the special teams looking so good tonight.

Posted by: brooklyncapsfan | November 19, 2008 11:51 PM | Report abuse

I just have to say it. I love Matt Bradley! Still waiting for Clarkie to get one tonight.

Oh, and did someone forget to tell Corey Perry that it is not a good idea to get Ovie mad?

Hope Greenie is okay.

Posted by: Kim-3 | November 19, 2008 11:51 PM | Report abuse

@Boo! - sounds about right but I honestly can't remember. It's been years since I saw his routine haha.....

"right to the produce section" is my new all time favorite thing I have ever heard Joe B say.

I hope Montador gets put throught he glass though. What a cheap little piece of poo.

Posted by: KurtNYC | November 20, 2008 12:15 AM | Report abuse

I guess schultz just felt like watching on that goal. I'm still waiting for the violence. stupid ducks.

That was a nice play. Sloan was undressed on it.

Posted by: Greg S. | November 20, 2008 12:21 AM | Report abuse

Green hurt?

We don't need him. He sucks 90% of the time. He is such a liability on the ice. I can't believe we signed him to a big contract. So what if there are only 3 or 4 defensemen that can do what he does on the ice, we can trade him and get Bouwmeester on the off season.

Posted by: JSchon | November 20, 2008 12:23 AM | Report abuse

Man, this is getting interesting.

Posted by: _828 | November 20, 2008 12:24 AM | Report abuse

need a goal here.

Posted by: oo7 | November 20, 2008 12:24 AM | Report abuse

Get us another goal, guys. The defense is probably exhausted - they only have five D because of so many injuries.

I swear the clock is going backward

Posted by: Steve_R | November 20, 2008 12:25 AM | Report abuse

Obviously... I'm kidding...

Um, really impressed with Steckel/Gordon/Bradley...

Another obvious statement... Fehr looks really good... he deserves to be on the top scoring lines...

Even strength we are just ok tonight, maybe just below ok...

Posted by: JSchon | November 20, 2008 12:25 AM | Report abuse

Yeah, Green is such a liability, that's why he's 4th in the league in +/-

Posted by: VegasCapsFan | November 20, 2008 12:26 AM | Report abuse

mauree:
Pronger took Green out?!? How ya like him now?? ;-)

Posted by: Boo- | November 20, 2008 12:27 AM | Report abuse

I like that Backstrom is shooting more. We def need another goal right now.

Posted by: _828 | November 20, 2008 12:27 AM | Report abuse

Tick Tock, Tick Tock! This is a tough game to be playing back to back games on.

Posted by: _828 | November 20, 2008 12:29 AM | Report abuse

Just watching the last few minutes of the game - heard Nyls has 2 assists; how has he played?

Posted by: Boo- | November 20, 2008 12:29 AM | Report abuse

Ever notice the Schultz is Prongeresque? In height anyway.

Posted by: Steve_R | November 20, 2008 12:29 AM | Report abuse

Nyls has been alright - nothing special but not terrible.

Posted by: _828 | November 20, 2008 12:31 AM | Report abuse

yeah yeah I know I'm unpopular with Pronger hehe. I stand by my opinion, hoping I don't offend anyone. To me that was a clean hit by the way.

anyway... open net... LETS GO CAPS!

Sombrero:
It's late - I don't remember what I said - what are you referring to?!? :-)

Posted by: Boo- | November 20, 2008 12:32 AM | Report abuse

WTF - how dirty are the ducks? Sore losers maybe?

Posted by: _828 | November 20, 2008 12:32 AM | Report abuse

Better keep Brash, Brads and Erks on the ready. This last 90 seconds could be ugly.

Posted by: cbs75 | November 20, 2008 12:32 AM | Report abuse

Nylander's had a couple assists & some fancy skating as well as a few lapses.

Posted by: uncatim | November 20, 2008 12:33 AM | Report abuse

Thank you Pronger

Two points from the top of the conference.

Posted by: meagle | November 20, 2008 12:38 AM | Report abuse

Wow, I've been on the wrong thread the whole game. Oops!
I sure hope Greener's okay. Maybe they're just playing it safe with him since Mo and Feds are out.
Thanks for the birthday present, boys! (even though its 40 minutes late)

Posted by: jmu_capsgirl | November 20, 2008 12:41 AM | Report abuse

Nice. Two solid points. I do NOT like Green being out, though - that makes me nervous. Five D, they're going to get killed out there. Here's hoping Mo can play tomorrow night.

Happy belated, jmu_capsgirl.

NHL.com has Ovie as #1 star of night.

Too bad Clarkie did not score. Looked like the guys were really trying to feed him one. He really dodged a bullet there at the end. As often as the refs were blowing their whistles I am surprised they let his trip go.

Posted by: Kim-3 | November 20, 2008 12:53 AM | Report abuse

uncatim, Thanks! :)
GregAnnapolis,
Yeah, oh well! I was kinda wondering if we were the only ones still up. Not that I need to be with all the stuff I've got to do in the morning.

Can't wait for the game tomorrow! (tonight?)

Posted by: jmu_capsgirl | November 20, 2008 12:53 AM | Report abuse

Great win boys. Most penalized team in the league is right.

Suts was quiet.

See you all tonight!

Posted by: BernieWolfeFan | November 20, 2008 1:04 AM | Report abuse

I thought Kozlov had a solid game. Only one assist on the score sheet ... but he made some nice passes and did a good job forechecking and hustling.

Posted by: Cerealman | November 20, 2008 1:04 AM | Report abuse

The refs missed a number of calls. Anyone who says they were calling everything doesn't have eyes. That spear to the produce section (god I love that phrase), the trip on Clarkie? The refs called everything they saw, but missed a lot of stuff.

Want updates on Greenie before bed ....

Posted by: kittypawz | November 20, 2008 1:06 AM | Report abuse

Yeah, also waiting for updates. Comments. Anything. Real nice of Comcast to go right to Redskin's Nation after the game. Thanks for catering to the viewing audience there guys.

I really hope Green's injury is not serious.

Posted by: Kim-3 | November 20, 2008 1:14 AM | Report abuse

Wow,

So much negativity on this board its amazing. How can you even say Green is a liability. Sure he takes risks, but he is Game Changer and those are hard to find. He pretty much made his statement on this game in first 5 minutes. Since Gonchar when have we had this type of offensive force on D. I guarantee these are the same people that tried to RUN Semin out of town last year. Enjoy what you are seeing. Caps are a League attraction have some of the top young talent in the league and are set up for years to come.

Posted by: lightshow | November 20, 2008 1:44 AM | Report abuse

Green is a weak link on our defense. We won't miss him defensively and his 18 million turnovers a game. He turns the puck over from his own end boards all the way thru the neutral zone.

I hope Mo can go. It will give us a stronger defensive lineup and we probably won't win 6-4 but rather 4-2 which is preferable anyway. Bad defensive teams don't go far in this league.

Posted by: cstanton1 | November 20, 2008 1:49 AM | Report abuse

Poti and Flash had strong games while Schultz was on ice for 3 goals against and at least 2 of them were his fault. The first goal was Gordon and Green's fault. Gordon lost the puck and Green was caught flat footed.

Posted by: cstanton1 | November 20, 2008 2:02 AM | Report abuse

sounded like anaheim fans chanted "ref you suck" after too many men penalty. Um, that's not borderline or debatable. Watch your TiVo, there were six guys in the offensive zone. It's your team that can't count, not the refs.

Posted by: christiansonm | November 20, 2008 3:41 AM | Report abuse

I personally do not see Greenie as a liability, and a lot of the folks who have said he is have also said "JOKING!" in a later post.

At least it was a clean hit that took him down, though. Pronger is HUGE!

Hopefully it won't be serious. Off to work now...
