Greetings From Pittsburgh

Tarik snapped a few photos of the Penguins' future $321 million home from outside Mellon Arena this morning. In case you can't see it, Sidney Crosby's and Evgeni Malkin's images are plastered on the right side of the top photo.

Crosby and Malkin on the right.

Coach Bruce Boudreau is talking to media now, so we'll have more in a bit.

I don't see Malkin and hope not to see him for the rest of the series!

Its just a better place for them to get beat in and cry. Let's go CAPS!

btw...PENGUINS SUCK!

If they just left the arena like that, I think it would be more reminiscent of Pitts other buildings.

Ahhh... Tarik has a camera. The better for us to live vicariously through Tarik. Thanks, WaPo.

From last post:

re: if the game is playing on Versus, last time I called them to check on the schedule they were really helpful, but today time they "couldn't verify which game would be on". The automated recording said that the Caps game would be on at 7pm, and Boston would be on at 9:30 EDT so I'm hoping that's true. Or heads will roll. Since I'm in NYC I'm assuming the hype around Caps/Pitts would create a preference for that game but I guess I'll have to see.

As for checking on your area's viewing I would call- 888-255-9233. This is the only Versus number I could find to actually get a human on the phone, you need your zip code and the channel number Versus is in your area. How they can't look that up on their own baffles me, but what can you do. Good luck!

Fair enough :) Thanks folks. I'll try to figure it out, but I'm thinking it might be Bruins. Might have to go to the bar to watch (rats!!)

f-ing beautiful! I like the Nursery, as it can never be positively construed.

If I get stuck watching Boston instead of the Caps I'm going to be pisssed off.

Posted by: oo7 | May 6, 2009 11:26 AM | Report abuse

You know those two regular season tickets Pittsburgh's giving to the losers are probably to Pittsburgh-Phoenix/Hamilton or Atlanta or something else ridiculously boring.

oo7:

Yeah, me too. I'm not sure why both games would be slotted for Versus when they're clearly playing at the same time. Seems like a sort of major oversight.

My DirecTV guide has Caps-Pens first, then catching what's left of the Bs-Canes game when it ends. Not sure if that helps any.

Enjoy the stay in Iron City; if you and "Bloggy" Steinberg and Barry "Mr. Consonant" Svrluga and anyother Posties on hand should need a place to regroup while there, may I suggest a spot in Lawrenceville near the neighborhood P'burgers call "the Strip". www.churchbrew.com.

I know they're a couple exterior shots, but I thought they'd be closer to finishing it than they are, assuming that's supposed to open later this year.

(on the Kunitz situation) obviously, Dillsma needs to visit his optomologist for a new pair of glasses.

Called Versus and the recording says "Caps vs Pens at 7PM", Boston can see the Bees/ Caines on NESN, Carolina can see Bees/Caines on FoxSE. Bees/Caines will be picked up at the conclusion of the Caps game

Bettman is trying to drive the Euro players back to their leagues and the KHL so he will let them get the s*** kicked out of them until they are just sick of the BS. Just par for the course for Napolean.

I have a picture of that big Malkin/Crosby thing, when I had to drive through there.

I'll try to find it and post it. It's a bit ridiculous.

The new arena, from all the photos/etc. I've seen, is going to be beautiful up there. I am looking forward to Rocking the Red up there during the 2010-11 season when the Caps make a visit there. :)

I will be Rocking the Red at the Igloo on Friday night. Who else is going?

I lived in the D.C. area for more than five years. Thankfully, I got out of the redneck area. Funny that you would have the audacity to mock the Pens' future home when your Verizon Center is built in an area rampant with homosexuals, winos and crack addicts. (Maybe now the same crowd are just "Caps fans.") At least the Capital Centre was only surrounded by parking lots!

Crosby will be opening up a whine bar across the street.

@Jumpy66: "An area rampant with homosexuals, winos, and crack addicts." It's funny you'd cite those PEOPLE like it's a bad thing. Last time I went to the Verizon Center, I didn't see too many homosexuals, winos, and crack addicts. Must be the blinders you have on, you sad waste of space.

Please move out of DC. You're an embarrassment. I'd take the homosexuals, winos, and the crack addicts before I shake your hand.
