Monday Morning Update (Updated)
The Caps are on the ice early this morning because they are leaving for Los Angeles in a few hours, two days ahead of the first of a four-game western swing.
Winger Alexander Semin, who missed Saturday's game with an upper body injury, is wearing an orange jersey, which is reserved for players who are hurting.
Center Sergei Fedorov, meantime, is on the ice and assigned to a line that has four players. That leads me to believe he is going to travel with the team. Whether Fedorov, who has been sidelined for five games with an ankle injury, plays or not, I'll have to check on that after practice.
Defenseman Shaone Morrisonn, also out the past five games (with a groin muscle strain) is practicing, too. I'm not certain about his status, but he said last week that he was getting close. There must be a little concern, though, because Tyler Sloan is still here.
Update:A couple of observations from the first 15 minutes of practice.
*Morrisonn looks ready. He appears to be going full out.
*Although the team hasn't said anything about Semin's injury, it must be his shoulder or back, because he's skating all out but isn't taking shots.
*Fedorov also isn't at 100-percent. He clearly is still slowed by the ankle sprain.
*Boudreau just ripped into the team for "going through the motions". He used a few choice words to express his dissatisfaction with the level of execution or effort after the first few drills. He told them today's practice is the day to start getting ramped up for Wednesday's game in Anaheim, not tomorrow's.

Sloan is definitely playing better than Jurcina, but I'm not sure if demoting a player on a one-way contract (Jurcina) is in the cards.
Every move the Caps make has to do with the cap, and their close proximity to it.

Tarik,
Do you think theres is any chance Semin will play this week? Will he even join the team for the roadtrip?

In your opinion do you think Semin will be able to play in Anaheim on Wednesday?

Yeah, I wasn't a fan of Jurcina last season, and not so much this season.

I liked Jurcina in 2006-2007, last season his play seemed to be going downhill and this season it's even worse. I definitely wouldn't cry if he were to no longer be a Cap.

Tarik,
Is there any chance we could see Jurcina returned to Hershey rather than Sloan?
