Johnson Update

Well, I'm finally back from Atlanta. But I arrived too late to attend this morning's optional practice at KCI.

Here's what I'm told happened:

Goaltender Brent Johnson, who appeared to injured his right leg, possibly his knee, during Monday's 4-2 loss to the Thrashers, did not skate. Johnson kicked out his left leg in an attempt to stop Keith Tkachuk's shot (he didn't) and went down in a heap. When he got back to his feet about a minute later, he was favoring his right leg.

Even if Johnson is sidelined, it doesn't figure to be a major problem for the Caps since they don't play again until Thursday in Boston, where Olie Kolzig (sprained knee) hopes to return from a 13 game absence. Kolzig faced shots again today and plans to get in a full practice tomorrow.

Ovechkin, Semin, Brashear, Clark and Pothier also did not skate today. Fehr, however, did practice. He's missed three weeks with a back injury. It's unclear when he's going to return.

If I get a more detailed update on Johnson, I'll post something later.
