Jurcina Will Sit Tonight
Based on the morning skate, it looks like defenseman Milan Jurcina will be the odd defenseman out and Jose Theodore will start in goal tonight against the Islanders.
I'll have a little more in a bit.

OK, so Pothier's in, Jurcina's out... Looking forward to the game tonight!!!

Good, Schultz is way better.

@irockthered: I expect Pothier to be in more often than he's out. He's still trying to get up to full speed, and the more games he gets before the playoffs the better. He also isn't doing half-badly.
Let's see what happens with Schultz back in the lineup tonight.

NJ has lost it's steam. Time for us to step up and take that 2 spot.
I, for one, am sick of everyone trash talking the SE.
Going into the playoffs as a top 4 team in the NHL would be nice.

I expect nothing less than a big win tonight, although I hoped we would see Varly get some work.
Also, wanting the Pens to win tonight is making me a little sick.... urgh.

Yes and we got to where were at by beating the Boston's and Pittsburghs of the league.

About lost my breakfast there after reading that. =P As a new Caps fan, could you explain? With those silly birds losing tonight keep them away from us in the first round if they do win?

...er, I mean, with them WINNING tonight keep them away from us....first round...

Lyle, you asked the same question last thread and I believe the answer was this year. He is a UFA at seasons end.
Posted by: hbcapsfan | April 1, 2009 11:12 AM | Report abuse
@lyle: End of the season.
@LeftCoast: No. They face the Devils tonight. Hence, a Pitt win would be nice.
Posted by: kittypawz | April 1, 2009 11:14 AM | Report abuse
If we win and Pen wins, we have aa three point lead on NJD. But, I still don't care. Go Devils! I hate Cindy Crybaby and the Penguins!!!!
Posted by: hbcapsfan | April 1, 2009 11:15 AM | Report abuse
I for one want Pitt to win tonight against NJ to have a 3 pt lead for #2 and I desperately want to see a Pitt/Philly first round match up.
Predictions
1.Boston
2.Wash
3.NJ
4.Philly
5.Pitt
6.Carolina
7.NY
8.Florida

I SECOND THAT MOTION.

*groan* Best case scenario is the Devils lose tonight but one of their players gets into it with Crosby. I wouldn't mind Crosby getting a black eye tonight, if the Pens "have" to win. Boo, either way.

@numero94:
But with a Pitt/Philly matchup, wouldn't we all be rooting for both teams to lose? Or for the earth to open and swallow both teams?
Posted by: DevilsCapsGal | April 1, 2009 11:20 AM | Report abuse
Root for a Devils loss... the fact that there's another team winning that game isn't the focus. You're not rooting for the opposition, just against NJ. ;)

I have an extra in 426 if anybody wants to go tonight

@DevilsCapsGal: Pitt/Philly matchup would be entertaining at the very least. Of course, sadly, the matchup the hockey media is dying for is WSH-PIT.
Posted by: kittypawz | April 1, 2009 11:27 AM | Report abuse
I think a second round match up with Pitt/Philly is not totally out of the question. I think if Carolina plays NJ they have a solid chance for the "upset". That would mean Bos/Car then Caps/Pitt/Philly.
Just my take.

Rog, I would love for the Habs to hang on for dear life and sneak into the 7th spot for a first round vs the Caps.

My one beef with Boudreau is that he is blindly loyal to his ex-Bear charges (fehr, fleischmann, shultze, etc.). For a team in desperate need of more grit, to bench a solid defenseman for the hockey equivalent of big bird (all size, no edge) is simply puzzling. Juice is probably our best defensive defenseman...he isn't afraid to hit...and he has a huge shot (which he doesn't use enough - but neither does Shultze use his effete shote). Bad move.

For those under 18 on this blog, the reference to 'pull it' is something that rats are noted to do to pass the time or make a boring or unbearable existence a bit more easy on the glial nodes.

we hate your clumsy and boarish anti-caps posts. you are easily the most childish and annoying troll we see on a regular basis. your posts are not thoughtful, but rather designed only to inspire barks from us.
go away, we know that you have a poor life, why else would anyone waste time coming here to troll? perhaps pulling it is insufficient and you need more stimulus.

@kittypawz - That would be my expectation as well, and I think it's all to the good that the Caps get to rest some of their D-men for the stretch. I'm very glad Pothier's back. :-) Carrying that extra D into the playoffs could make a HUGE difference.

Jurcina is sitting tonight...
Yay! On my defensman depth chart he should be about #8...
1 - Green
2 - Poti
3 - Morrisonn
4 - Alzner
5 - Pothier (will move up as he plays more)
6 - Schultz
7 - Erskine
8 - Jurcina (or perhaps Collins, Helmer, Lepisto, Sloan...)
