Kolzig to Start in Boston

I knew Olie Kolzig was going to start against the Bruins tomorrow even before he came off the ice and pronouced himself "fully recovered" from the torn MCL that's sidelined him for the past month.

You know how I knew? About midway through today's practice at KCI, he let in a weak wrist shot. And without hesitation, Kolzig turned around and smashed his stick over the cross bar.

Oh yeah, Kolzig is back--and already in his usual, high-strung form.

"I was frustrated," Kolzig said of the shot that beat him. "I have to remind myself that I've been off the ice for four weeks, and my timing isn't going to be the way it was before. You know me. I don't let things fester inside. I let it out."

Brent Johnson also has recovered from the strained knee he suffered in Monday's 4-2 loss in Atlanta. He'll back up Kolzig against the Bruins. Meantime, minor leaguer Frederic Cassivi has been reassigned to Hershey.

Whether Kolzig's return means anything in terms of wins and losses for the Caps remains to be seen. But I can tell you that the Caps are a more confident team when's in the locker room and on the ice.
