Kozlov Not Practing
Viktor Kozlov, who has missed five games with a groin muscle pull, is not on the ice for practice this morning. I have not received a status update on the big Russian, but it seems that his groin "tweak" might be a bit more serious than the team originally suggested.

From last thread...
Re: Morrisonn - I have a bad feeling about Morrisonn... it's that we will have trouble trading him, because he just isn't playing up to his potential - or his salary - this season.
@atybat - The point with Nylander's NTC is that to the best of our knowledge as of the last interview posted, NOBODY had approached Nylander about waiving it. Unless and until he does, he has it IN WRITING, that he will not be traded. THAT is a problem. If someone can find me something - other than atybat's word for it, since I don't know him from Adam - proving that Nyls has been approached and agreed to being traded, THEN I'll let his NTC drop as a barrier to trading him. Until that time, no. As I understand his CONTRACT, which is a legally-binding document, he CANNOT be traded without his permission. He has said so, and I believe him. Therefore, the NTC is still a barrier, whether we want it to be or not.

cbssportsline.com has already reported that Kozlov has been placed on LTIR. Not sure why it's not up here. Just saying.

I don't think anybody is expecting us to TRADE Mo. I think everybody is just expecting us to let him walk at the end of the year.

Yahoo! is also reporting 5 Feb as the retroactive date for Kovlov.

The link about Alzner being sent down hasn't been posted yet either.
Wow. Um. This is going to make things interesting.

@_jordan: I am, simply because Morrisonn is worth something to us (he's got to be if we accepted that second arbitration amount). If we let him walk, we get nothing in return. I see GMGM at least shopping him in hopes of getting returns.

"I don't think anybody is expecting us to TRADE Mo."
A 26 year old relatively inexpensive defenseman on a team with cap room could be appealing.

Kozlov is on IR not LTIR, a team official who knows these things just told me.

Thanks, Tarik. I should have caught the IR vs. LTIR.

Wait, they sent Alzner down, what? Hopefully it's temporary...
@_jordan - The problem is, if he walks, we get nothing for him at all.
Kozlov on LTIR is not cool, but at least it forces him to sit his butt down!

We have healthy players. Most of the time the injuries are groin strains wich is because of the ice surface @ verizon. When is this going to get fixed? Is it only going to get fixed when ovechkin pulls a groin.

Kozlov is on IR not LTIR as Tarik just reported. Missing 5 games with a "groin tweak" means it really wasn't tweaked at all. We'll be seeing Kozlov back soon enough; my guess is he misses another week or two and then is ready to go.

Nyls WILL wave the NTC. GMGM knows it. Still, he ain't going anywhere. His contract is cost prohibitive. By the way, BB and GMGM are not on the same wavelength when it comes to how Nyls is being utilized but, as a good boss, GMGM let's BB run his show; BB has too much success for GMGM to mess with this.
