So after all of the Flash bashing he gets the first pre-season goal. I know it means nothing it is just interesting.

Flash scores, the fan base cheers then groans. I hate when players play like they know the fan base is calling for them to be traded. Perhaps this will increase his trade value.

huge hit by Jay Rosehill along the boards. Plasters a little Senator forward. Then gets attacked by David Hale. Rosehill wins the fight, Hale skates off with a bloody lip.

preseason intensity!

now Komisarek just knocked a Senator player clean into the Leafs bench. He had to fight his way out of there. Man. Goosebumps.

once Flash sews up his spot, he'll go back to waxin an relaxin.

We have any confirmed live video somewhere?

only of ottawa and tor

Foligno and Komisarek now mixing it up. And another monster hit, this time by Andre Benoit from Ottawa on a Leaf forward. Krrrunch along the boards. This is some great preseason hockey. Just back n forth, hitting and skating.

Hmm, I clicked it and it took me to a site called "DC's #1 Horned Male Cow Manure Processing Plant".

That was unexpected.

Leafs just potted 2 goals in 30 seconds scoring on both ends of a 5 on 3. Their top line of Bozak centering Kessel and Kulemin looks good.

Posted by: cstanton1 | September 22, 2010 7:49 PM | Report abuse

haha, that WAS very unexpected. It was supposed to take you to a site that said "this site never existed no matter what the stats say"

Posted by: cstanton1 | September 22, 2010 7:51 PM | Report abuse

man, kessel just took a wallop. I counted about 20 good sized hits in the 1st pd. I think its great when rivals face off in the preseason. Makes the games watchable.

I want to punch the announcer in the mouth...is that Kolbe (sp)?

Posted by: SeminAllOverTheIce | September 22, 2010 8:03 PM | Report abuse

MJ just set up Hendricks for another goal! He is trying to prove he is ready.

Varly making some big saves

Posted by: capscoach | September 22, 2010 8:15 PM | Report abuse

damn, I might have to stop picking on sgm3, wasnt he the one hyping up Hendricks. He may be on to something.

Btw, Varly sounds like he is playing like he wants #1 goalie and double Neuvy's money.

Posted by: SeminAllOverTheIce | September 22, 2010 8:15 PM | Report abuse

WTF...he knows the boards hate him and he is on the trading block. Either that, or Semin is just making him look that good.

Posted by: SeminAllOverTheIce | September 22, 2010 8:19 PM | Report abuse

I am pretty sure that it has been cstanton1 that has been talking up Hendricks - it would be cool if he made the team.

Posted by: MReilly9 | September 22, 2010 8:20 PM | Report abuse

Hate object #1 has two goals and has won 80% of face-offs.

Posted by: jakopz | September 22, 2010 8:22 PM | Report abuse

Hey there-I have to side with sgm3 on Hendricks. I live in Southwest Florida and Hendricks played for the Florida Everblades in the ECHL and I covered this team for a couple of years and this kid has tremendous upside and potential and I'm not surprised he is catching on in the NHL. I hope this kid makes the Caps roster. Nice to see he's chipped in on the scoring tonight.

Posted by: Jonathan6 | September 22, 2010 8:22 PM | Report abuse

Flash scored his 2nd goal...guess he is trying to prove all you negative posters wrong...and yes I realize this is just a pre-season game.

Caps now 4-1 with another goal by M Hendricks!

Posted by: MReilly9 | September 22, 2010 8:25 PM | Report abuse

Hendricks wants to stay!
2 for flash 2 for Hendricks

Posted by: capscoach | September 22, 2010 8:26 PM | Report abuse

WOW...goal #2 from Hendricks....Semin involved in his 3rd goal of the night...sgm3 for GM.

This should be on tv

Posted by: LloydChristmas | September 22, 2010 8:27 PM | Report abuse

wasn't it cstanton1 that said "we need to package Hendricks for a legit blue-liner to pair with my boy Poti." Can anyone verify this statement?

Posted by: SeminAllOverTheIce | September 22, 2010 8:29 PM | Report abuse

1st Star Tonight:

cstanton, he's been talking up Hendricks for some time now.

Bottom Star Tonight:

Also, cstanton, biggest Flash basher :)

OK, who watched? Was Flash goos all night?

BTW, can we nickname Hendricks "Jimi," even though the spelling is off? I just want him to be interviewed after the game and say we would have done even better if the 6 were 9.

I can see it now, Caps go 82-0-0, outscore the oppostion by 300 goals, but lose in 7 in Round 1 to the upstart Maple Leafs as Tomas Kaberle races end to end untouched and scores in overtime.

Posted by: tominsocal1 | September 22, 2010 9:31 PM | Report abuse

Oh, I forgot, after Kaberle's goal, George McPhee says, "We can't let one bad overtime period get in the way of our plan."

Posted by: tominsocal1 | September 22, 2010 9:34 PM | Report abuse

Tom? You seem to be a lot more negative and critical of the Caps than you used to be. Did your move to SoCal effect you that bad?

Posted by: fanohock1 | September 22, 2010 9:40 PM | Report abuse

fanohock1: Heavens, much of what I write is joking.

As I've always said, I believe I'm smack dab in the middle here. Caps are a great offensive team. They can win the Cup 10% chance. But, a team with their offense should be a better favorite.

I said when free agency started I'd be incredibly disapppointed if the team were not upgraded before the puck dropped Oct 8th. So far, just DJ King. I'd also be extremely disappointed if we lost someone like AGordon just so we could keep an extra sniper (Flash) one more year. That would be senseless.

The bottom line is the same team and system that didn't deserve to beat Montreal is the same. You can call that an abberration as Caps mgmt has but I tend to go with odds and say only 50% chance that is true.

If this guy Hendricks keeps it up, we'd want to get him on the team. Somehow. AGordon too, rather than lost on waivers.

A few trades and my slight bitterness would wane.

Posted by: tominsocal1 | September 22, 2010 11:01 PM | Report abuse

Let's not forget that 3 out of the 6 that played on D last night have no chance of being given a regular jersey for the Caps this season. 1 of the 6 (Erskine) is a 5/6/scratch defenseman.

This is preseason game 1. Enough gloom. Lets be happy that hockey is back.
