Last May, after 35 years of watching the Caps, I said "That's it, I'm done. I have had it. No more."
And yet here I am in front of the TV. Anyone remember that definition of insanity? Doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results? Yeah, that was it.

did he raise an arm or anything when they carted him off?
Posted by: j762 | October 8, 2010 7:54 PM | Report abuse
Pure speculation but looks like some vagal shock to me... I would assume he will be ok... no first advanced life support was given/necessary...
Posted by: atybat | October 8, 2010 7:55 PM | Report abuse
Maybe that they didn't perform CPR is good? Could he just fainted (no real problem...dehydration?) and then hit his head on the ice?
Posted by: dezlboy1 | October 8, 2010 7:56 PM | Report abuse
@atybat
Vagal Shock?
Posted by: dezlboy1 | October 8, 2010 7:58 PM | Report abuse
Looks like he was trying to signal the bench before slumping to the ice. Don't think he hit his head going down or anything else.
Hope we get some good news on him during the course of the game.
Posted by: RedRedRed | October 8, 2010 7:58 PM | Report abuse
Shout out to ATL EMS. Hopefully he'll be OK. I didn't see the AED attached or anything. No CPR or intubation to maintain airway either. Those are great signs.

Couple really good minutes there. Good response to what most of us would describe as "more of the same" in the Caps d-zone.
Posted by: stevie_in_gp | October 8, 2010 8:15 PM | Report abuse

I don't think I've ever seen Erskine this PO'd. Good for him!
Posted by: wocoliz | October 8, 2010 8:21 PM | Report abuse
cstanton should be a little pleased with erskine and chimmychunga

Posted by: griz0615 | October 8, 2010 8:25 PM | Report abuse
I'm telling you, Erskine is not half bad. He's been set up to fail in our system (and I like our system). He will fare much better with a stay-at-home counterpart.

Puck to the face during one of the pre-season games, right? Bunch of stitches.

Erskine had a good reason to be PO'd... the whole play was his fault because he pinched in too deep.
thinks he's Bobby Orr just because he wears the same number.

------------------------------------------
is that a joke? he should be the stay-at-home d-guy, this team doesn't need another Mike Green joining the rush.
Posted by: joek443 | October 8, 2010 8:37 PM | Report abuse
By "not a stay-at-home D" I don't mean he should be joining the rush. He doesn't have the footspeed to be a stay at home D. He'd have to play at the center dot. What he should be doing is mauling people in our end. Let Alzner stay home. Erskine can go Hulk Smash people.
Posted by: EricinReston | October 8, 2010 8:41 PM | Report abuse
Hope the Caps lose some of the fancy and turn a bit of gritty team play for this period. That first was not exactly good team play.
Posted by: JIMALLCAPS1 | October 8, 2010 8:48 PM | Report abuse
Erskine is no Scott Stevens and even Stevens got into trouble when he was looking to knock out people...
he's at best a #6 d-man who's not even gonna play every game which means you're just happy if he's not scored upon... if you expect too much from a guy like that, that means you're desperate in D
Posted by: joek443 | October 8, 2010 8:50 PM | Report abuse
Come on Caps, this looks very weak so far; way to go Nuevy!
Posted by: JIMALLCAPS1 | October 8, 2010 8:52 PM | Report abuse
Hand pass in the crease isn't kosher? I thought you had to actually cover the puck to get that called.
Well it's not like we haven't been here before... Here's to hoping we can fix this over intermission like we did so many times last year :-/
