Tonight's lineup: Devils at Caps
After the win in Ottawa, Capitals goaltender Michal Neuvirth said he was happy to have the opportunity to build up some momentum and confidence with two straight starts. He'll have the chance to keep that going with at least a third start tonight as Washington hosts the New Jersey Devils and Martin Brodeur.
"The more success they have the more confidence they'll have and it's the same as the other way around. If we don't have success every goals weighs heavy on their shoulders," Coach Bruce Boudreau said of the Capitals' young goaltenders' confidence. "They're both going to play, but at the same time I think Neuvy's carried us a little bit more this year and he's going to get a chance tonight and he'll hopefully play on Thursday."
In his pre-game comments to the media, Boudreau said he would not know if Alexander Semin would play against the Devils until after warm-up but he did skate in the line rushes.
So, based on warm-up here's what the lineup should look like:
Forwards
Ovechkin-Backstrom-Semin
Laich-Perreault-Knuble
Chimera-Johansson-A. Gordon
Beagle-Steckel-Bradley
Defense
Hannan-Green
Erskine-Poti
Alzner-Carlson
Goal
Neuvirth
Varlamov
Scratches: Matt Hendricks and Eric Fehr.
