Just got home, I missed both goals and by Bradlee? LOL. That is freaking great. I can't wait for the highlights.

Caps on 7.

BRADLEY

Ovi+Sema = 0 SOG. Hopefully they're gonna compensate in 2nd and 3rd.

Posted by: fnralch | April 24, 2009 7:45 PM | Report abuse

Hello All!
I gave my tix to some good friends so I'm here with all of yoos rootin' on the Caps. I must admit, I secretly did not want to witness another early ouster live so I didn't really mind having some good friends see a playoff game. Anyway,

Lets Go Cap - I - Tals!!!

Posted by: BernieWolfeFan | April 24, 2009 7:46 PM | Report abuse

Great to see Brads contribute and get the recognition he deserves.

Posted by: BernieWolfeFan | April 24, 2009 7:47 PM | Report abuse

Suck on that, Rangers! Henrik is human after all. Theo would have been proud of Bradley's 2nd goal.

Posted by: ranndino | April 24, 2009 7:49 PM | Report abuse

I don't know if anyone else deserves it more than Brad. He's a REAL fighter. Now it's big guns' turn...

Posted by: fnralch | April 24, 2009 7:51 PM | Report abuse

2 goals on 6 shots.

Posted by: richmondphil | April 24, 2009 7:54 PM | Report abuse

I am sitting in the Cayman Islands and took over a bar and made them put the caps game on. Nothing better beach and a caps win. Let's go caps

Posted by: Tprpolen | April 24, 2009 7:57 PM | Report abuse

I effing love Bradley. Would love to see him get a third.

Nice to see others stepping up and scoring. THIS is the way the team should have been playing the first couple of games.

Keeping my fingers crossed for a good 3rd period.

In the pregame, they interviewed some guy (not sure what his name was) who talked about Green and his "off ice conditioning" as if it is a problem he needs to work on. This was after talking about his "flu like symptoms." Is this code word for he needs to stop partying so he's not hungover before a game?

Posted by: sasha_206 | April 24, 2009 7:58 PM | Report abuse

ranndino,

lol...

Posted by: BernieWolfeFan | April 24, 2009 7:58 PM | Report abuse

I said the rangers would struggle hard if down by two. We will see if I'm right. If the rangers don't show up it's back to ny

Posted by: rangerfan44 | April 24, 2009 8:01 PM | Report abuse

Sasha!!!

Posted by: BernieWolfeFan | April 24, 2009 8:09 PM | Report abuse

Now it's Ovi's time. He desperately needs to score!!

And it's SOOOOO nice to see our familiar Rags...

Posted by: fnralch | April 24, 2009 8:13 PM | Report abuse

Let's keep it up Caps. We need to wear them down...and stay inside Henrik's head!

Posted by: Terptwin | April 24, 2009 8:19 PM | Report abuse

Anyone else like the red stantions holding the glass? Cool!

Posted by: BernieWolfeFan | April 24, 2009 8:20 PM | Report abuse

I think the Caps try some shots to the 5-hole of lundqvist, they've been going high all series and he's expecting it (even if you know exactly where Sasha is going to shoot, you're not going to stop it)

Posted by: Moose33 | April 24, 2009 8:23 PM | Report abuse

I just noticed the stantions, they do look pretty cool

Posted by: Moose33 | April 24, 2009 8:24 PM | Report abuse

TPR, I wish I was in the islands. I was in st lucia 3 years ago, walked into a bar and found a bunch of wings and sabres fans. the English proprietor found the playoffs on the dish and orders the channels right there as long as we promised to stay and keep drinking. we wandered back to our boats hammemered. not my boat, just the one we were sailing on. good times.

Posted by: oo7 | April 24, 2009 8:26 PM | Report abuse

IRON CURTAIN. Wow, Varly is super cool. As always though.

Posted by: fnralch | April 24, 2009 8:33 PM | Report abuse

oh...my...god...Ovi

Posted by: Moose33 | April 24, 2009 8:36 PM | Report abuse

Ovie!
In case anyone is wondering, this is the Playoffs. There is no such thing as "Piling On". Bring on another 4 more boys!

Posted by: BernieWolfeFan | April 24, 2009 8:36 PM | Report abuse

How in a hell did we lose to the Rags? HOW??? Please boys, make a couple of goals more in the 3rd to crush them!!!

Posted by: fnralch | April 24, 2009 8:38 PM | Report abuse

I love Ovi's face after he scored. That expression of pure joy is why this guy is so fun to watch. Highlight reel goals and hits help too.

Posted by: Moose33 | April 24, 2009 8:38 PM | Report abuse

I also love the look on Tortilla's face...the expression of pure disgust is why that guy is so fun to watch.

Posted by: Moose33 | April 24, 2009 8:39 PM | Report abuse

I gotta say that was Ovie at his finest. Beautiful.

Tonight they are playing with heart, just like they did on Game 3.

Varly, hang tough.

Posted by: sasha_206 | April 24, 2009 8:41 PM | Report abuse

007. There are no hockey fans here. Rugby on the other tvs. Watching the rangers feed right now. What a move by OV I went nuts and everybody thought someone scored on the rugby game.

Posted by: Tprpolen | April 24, 2009 8:43 PM | Report abuse

Feel the Fury, Ranger's fans! How does it feel to be Ovechkined?

Posted by: gonchpup | April 24, 2009 8:44 PM | Report abuse

unless the caps calapse in the third it's going back to ny. But it sounds like some think this is game 7, the rangers didn't win the series when it was 3-1 and the caps don't win because it's 3-2. Caps need to continue this type of play for two more games after this and hope lundqvist plays this poorly again for two games, it's not imposible, but anyone would say it will be very very hard.

Posted by: rangerfan44 | April 24, 2009 8:44 PM | Report abuse

I think the last goal never should have happened feds hooked that ranger player, but the refs put the whistles away, neither team should have had 5 players on the ice the last five min of the period, both teams got away with a ton. Also , once again the caps big guys come out when there is no pressur, it's 2-0 and the rangers look like crap, THAN the stars decide to play, I wouldn't be to excited, if next game the rangers are up will ovechkin and semin show up? Or will they do what they did most of this series and look like they don't know what to do?

Posted by: rangerfan44 | April 24, 2009 8:48 PM | Report abuse

Rangerfan, if the Caps lose the series, I will gladly root for them to go far. I don't think they will go far but I think they are a better team than they are given credit for.

Posted by: sasha_206 | April 24, 2009 8:52 PM | Report abuse

Fnralch: the ahh craps lost to the rangers three times so far because when the rangers play as a team they are damn hard to beat. And you said "familiar rags". Not this year, 4 goals was rare, normaly they wouldn't give up more that 3. So just like I said after game 3, don't expect to score a bunch on lundqvist in game 6, he is a good goali and is known for haveing a great game after a poor one, maybe the rangers lose 6 1-0 but don't expect him to be so weak in net two in a row

Posted by: rangerfan44 | April 24, 2009 8:54 PM | Report abuse

Game on!!!!

Posted by: gonchpup | April 24, 2009 8:55 PM | Report abuse

C'mon, rangerfan. You've been cool so far, but saying the Caps stars haven't "decide[d} to play" just makes you look surly and like you don't know hockey. No one who knows anything has said Ovie and Semin haven't shown up; Semin's scoring and Ovie is producing in all non-scoring phases. Can say the same for Gomez on your end.

Posted by: stevie_in_gp | April 24, 2009 8:57 PM | Report abuse

Hey Post you can take this chat and shove it. Its the twitter crowd and not the Caps crowd.

Posted by: MKadyman | April 24, 2009 8:58 PM | Report abuse

I didn't even know Valiquette was in goal, lol...geez..

Posted by: BernieWolfeFan | April 24, 2009 9:00 PM | Report abuse

I don't mean to say they wernt playing hard, just that when the pressure is on it shows with there shot selection and when the game is already prety much decided they play their game. They may play hard no matter what but the pressure shows. I wouldn't be happy if it was 3-0 rangers and zherdev got a pretty goal, it wouldn't mean anything, it's alot easier to kick a team when their down.

Posted by: rangerfan44 | April 24, 2009 9:05 PM | Report abuse

The caps need to be carful here, they dont want to give the rangers confidence back...well I don't want them to be carful, but the point stands

Posted by: rangerfan44 | April 24, 2009 9:08 PM | Report abuse

You don't score 50 and 60 goals socring only when "the game is decided."

The mor you pour in on the goalie the better, regradless of the time. Look at the confidence that is built when there are 45 shots and only one goal.

Posted by: Satts | April 24, 2009 9:12 PM | Report abuse

I don't understand why any of the caps top players would be on this PP, there is such a risk of injury and why tire them out. It's 4-0 and thevseries is going back to NY, for another must win, I would let the 3rd and 4th line guysvenjoy some more ice and start prepping for game six

Posted by: rangerfan44 | April 24, 2009 9:12 PM | Report abuse

Satts, this isn't the regular season. I was talking about this series so far, you can't say that they have played the same no matter what. Ovechkin had alot of really low quality shots when the games were tight, and semin hasn't looked good unless the game momentum is all caps. This series, I think, when the rangers play their game it gets in the caps players heads and they seem to freeze up a bit.

Posted by: rangerfan44 | April 24, 2009 9:17 PM | Report abuse

@rangerfan44

Just for the sake of fairness, if you average over these 5 games, Caps looked much better than Rangers. Sure, the score does not show that but I suppose you wouldn't disagree. Would you?

Posted by: fnralch | April 24, 2009 9:17 PM | Report abuse

Happy now, rangerfan?

Posted by: stevie_in_gp | April 24, 2009 9:17 PM | Report abuse

I have a lot of respect for the way the Rangers have played the game. They have been disciplined on defense and other than Avery have limited mistakes especially in their zone. They have frustrated the CAPS to no end. But, Lundy has stood on his head...both Semin and Ovechkin have had many good opportunities (and quite a few easily viewed outside shots). But to say they have played poorly, especially Ovie, is juts silly.

Posted by: Satts | April 24, 2009 9:21 PM | Report abuse

I would say that the caps have looked bettervwith the puck and the rangers without. In the rangers wins they kept the caps to the outside, and like it or not the goali counts, and except for two games lundqvist has been better. I would say the caps look better, but it's were and they were better that matters and the rangers were better in more games at the right times.

Posted by: rangerfan44 | April 24, 2009 9:21 PM | Report abuse

@rangerfan44,
I guess you are going to say Semin took a dive on that last play huh?

Posted by: BernieWolfeFan | April 24, 2009 9:22 PM | Report abuse

Are the rangers trying to get into demons head? They seem to be going after him...kinds weird

Posted by: rangerfan44 | April 24, 2009 9:23 PM | Report abuse

No, when have I said anything like that? No dive.

Posted by: rangerfan44 | April 24, 2009 9:24 PM | Report abuse

Stay classy, NY. What d-bags . . .

And for the record, rangerfan, only against your Rangers can goals three and four in the 2nd period be considered piling on/kicking someone when they're down.

Oh, and Semin's goals in game 3 created the Caps momentum as much as they resulted from it.

Concur with you on shot selection, however.

Posted by: stevie_in_gp | April 24, 2009 9:24 PM | Report abuse

Ooops I typed deomon instead of semin, well my iPhone did

Posted by: rangerfan44 | April 24, 2009 9:26 PM | Report abuse

Stevie, it's not about the score, the rangers body language showed they were down. The caps tonight could have stopped shooting and won 2-0

Posted by: rangerfan44 | April 24, 2009 9:27 PM | Report abuse

The caps two wins have come with the rangers never showing up. I called the series rangers in 6, now I didn't expect the rangers to play like such crap in this game, but I expected it to go back to ny

Posted by: rangerfan44 | April 24, 2009 9:30 PM | Report abuse

The score is just as effective momentum wise as when a goalie like Lundy shuts them out. Its puts questions in the back of your mind.

Posted by: Satts | April 24, 2009 9:30 PM | Report abuse

only goalie with 2 shutouts!

Posted by: richmondphil | April 24, 2009 9:31 PM | Report abuse

Yeah boys. Great win but we all know game 6 will be much different in every facet. Looking forward to Sunday.

Lets Go Cap - I - Tals!!!

Posted by: BernieWolfeFan | April 24, 2009 9:32 PM | Report abuse

Varly is in the Ranger's heads nowwwwww!!!!!!!! YESS!!!

Posted by: rachel216 | April 24, 2009 9:33 PM | Report abuse

Rangers fan,

by that logic, the Rangers wins are only when the real CAPS have not shown up. Fantastic analysis, I am awed by your hockey knowledge.

Posted by: Satts | April 24, 2009 9:33 PM | Report abuse

Awesome! True measure of the teams' strength. Like I said Rangers suck. Also like I said Varly is awesome. Wow! 2 shutouts in 4 games played. Only allowed 3 goals total. Ovechkin's goal was sick!

Torts lost his crap fighting with fans and sending his goons out to get Semin. No class.

Going out to celebrate.

Posted by: ranndino | April 24, 2009 9:34 PM | Report abuse

rangerfan44: I think you should be thankful this is still 3-2. The Rangers don't have two dominating wins over us. All three games could've gone either way. The Rangers got a lot of luck in game 4.

Posted by: rachel216 | April 24, 2009 9:35 PM | Report abuse

C'mon Rags, is that all you got? Fonzie, Fonzie, Fonzie, how's that beer dump feel? Caps in 7!

Posted by: meagle | April 24, 2009 9:37 PM | Report abuse

@ rangersfan44

The Rangers haven't showed up in this whole series. Your 3 wins were all BS. A gift by Theo in game 1 and 2 absolute steals by Henrik in games 2 and 4. Your team sucks. The ONLY TIMES YOU WIN is when your goalie stands on his head. We should have swept your crappy team by now. Rangers are by far the worst team to make the playoffs in the East. Now that we have Varlamov in net you have no idea how to score. You got 2 cheap goals last game and held on for dear life. Stop talking. You're not making any sense. Take off your Ranger colored goggles. You guys stink.

Posted by: ranndino | April 24, 2009 9:39 PM | Report abuse

@ rangersfan44

Must suck to be a fan of a team that plays boring hockey, has no idea how to score and has to pray that their goalie stands on his head and keeps the score down. I predicted that Henrik won't be able to keep this up. What he did in games 2 and 4 was inhuman. No one can keep that up. Game 4 was as big a steal by a goalie as I've ever seen. So you really should be the last one knocking our wins. You guys have been extremely lucky to win any games in this series because you've been completely outplayed in every single game. The results masked just how uneven this series is in our favor. Your luck has run out.

Posted by: ranndino | April 24, 2009 9:50 PM | Report abuse

Didn't anyone see what happened in the 3rd when there was an excessively long timeout? We were sitting 4 rows behind the Ranger's bench. Tortorella threw a water bottle at the CAPS fans behind the glass. It hit the lady sitting in front of me, bounced of her head, and ended up going unaccounted for! Unbelievable behavior by a professional coach. He ought to be suspended for the rest of the series! By the way, a Washington Post reporter showed up, interviewed a few folks. One of the other fans has a photo of Tortorella in the act. I just hope this makes the headlines because it was absolutely ridiculous.
