Morning Skate Update
All of the Caps (except Mike Knuble) are on the ice for the morning skate ahead of tonight's home opener against Toronto. Coach Bruce Boudreau told me that Knuble is not hurt or nursing anything. It's just at 37 years old, Knuble just doesn't like to skate in the morning.
Boudreau also isn't showing his lines or pairings, but I'm not expecting many changes, if any, after the way the Caps dominated the Bruins on Thursday.
I'll have more later.

Ray "The Impenetrable Diamond Rayzor Back" Emery had a shutout last night. Just sayin...

Cool, sounds good. Toronto isn't going to be the pushover they were last year, so let's hope that the guys stick to the system and keep crashing the net.

RE: TOR
Despite pushing Montreal into OT, they didn't look really good on Thursday. Maybe all their new acquisitions need a bit more to gel together, but they made a lot of mistakes. But so did the Bruins, so it could have just been 1st game jitters.

Another Bears article, about the development system that's working so well between Hershey and DC.

richmondphil: Right, exactly. Still, TOR was much nastier in the pre-season than they were in the past, and they got plenty of pucks on Price (46 to be exact). We'll see what happens, and I've got faith in our boys. I don't blame Bruce for not changing a thing after Thursday's game - I'm just saying don't think it's going to be an easy win.
What I really want to see out of this team now is consistency. When they're consistent and sticking to their system they're like a steamroller. When they get off their game and get discombobulated, they stop being a team and are just a bunch of guys on the ice, and then they flop.

I would not be surprised if Jurcina sat down. I thought he was off on Thursday.

What, no one calling out McPhee for terminating dovgans contract? Can't believe he let another 7 th round pick get away...the fm hatred must be sleeping in today...

Being consistent is the hardest thing in any sport. there are lots of players and teams that show a flash of brilliance for a short period. only the very best can do it night after night, year after year.
the inconsistency of this team is largely due to their relative youth and inexperience. takes times to learn to be consistent over a grueling 82 game season plus the playoffs. they just need more experience and consistency will follow. A stud defensive D-man would still help speed up that process.

About time. He fell off our depth charts last year.
