Morrisonn Injured

You may have noticed that defenseman Shaone Morrisonn did not return to the game after taking a few shifts in the second period. It's unclear what exactly happened to him, but the word is that he's been was taken to a local hospital for a CAT Scan, possibly to get a closer look at his abdomen after he was apparently struck with a shot.

It wasn't immediately known how serious the injury is or whether he would be able to travel home with the Caps.

I'll update when I get more info.

This is what I would call a BLESSING IN DISGUISE!

hope he's ok..but the caps have no D anyway..with or without him.

Hope he is ok.

IMO, he has definately been quite a dssptmnt this year. Figure he is going to walk. Don't see the D commitment.

as of now the Leafs who admit they are not a playoff caliber team are ahead of the Caps.....time for a reality check

@robblahs

that BB interview was strange...he seemed almost depressed, i swear he started to well-up in the eyes half way thru...btw, i think he called out a third player (along with sasha and kozlov) but i didn't catch it.

Posted by: fullright | November 1, 2008 10:17 PM | Report abuse

@fullright

Thanks for the catch. Will have to take a look. Locker and Kokin(sp) seemed to call out both Nicky and Green for their magic act of dispring.

Well, guess I am not sorry that I missed that! I recorded it but started fast forwarding through the recording and just saw basketball, so I deleted it. Sounds like if I had kept fast forwarding I would have gotten to hockey?!? But, like I said, just as well - it would have just rubbed it in.

So, who was good, who was bad and who did anything remotely interesting?!?

@Boo

As much as I detest basketball....that or watching paint dry may have been a better deal tonight...you missed nada

Sounds like it - what the heck happened? What fell apart?

@Boo

Geez...where to start. Just one of those games in an 82 game season u gotta throw away. Although, I wonder if Det. take such a stand. 5.4.1 (11pts) is not all that...have to get on track

If guys don't want to play, I am sure there some guys a couple hours north of DC that wouldn't mind taking their place.

I've held back my comments of Jose this year but it's now November and he's had his time to get on track. Obviously, he's not on track. He's worst than Kolzig to watch. Thing is, after Kolzig let the first shot go in, he typically came up with the saves afterwards. Jose, well he's the guy that just keeps on giving. If Johnson can't go, please bring someone else up from Hershey and give them a shot. Let JT sit until next year and give him practice time to work through his issues.

Part of the teams' problem is that depression sets in after that 1st shot goes in and it's "Here we go, again!"

Nobody hits except Erskine and Green, 4 & 3, respectfully.

Mike Green, bad game. Two goals in due to his lackluster effort.

Backstrom - he is definitely not the guy he was last year. Time to bump him down a couple of lines. I don't want to hear, "I don't want to damage his confidence." Point is, he's not playing with any right now!

Schultz - It's painful watching him glide around the defensive zone and not hit anyone. NO HITS TONIGHT with 20 MINUTES of ice time!!!! He's the tallest guy at there on D and he never finishes a check. I think he's lost that 10lbs (and maybe more) since he arrived in camp. His half-arse slap shot is pathetic. The only time it works is when the opposing goalie is fouled that this big man shots are with velocity of 50 MPH. Sloan should have stayed up and Schultz should be scratched. Put him in the same corner with JT and let them work out their major issues. At least Sloan learns from his mistakes.

Is it me or is this a different team than the one who played the Flyers in the playoffs. There is a lack of 100% effort trying to win the loose pucks. Buffalo had 26 give aways!!! Caps no goals. Caps had 8 give aways and resulted in at least 3 goals.

I'm a STH and traveled to Buffalo today and went to the game. I saw this miserable game live. I was not embarassed to be a Cap fan at the game but the Cap organization should be after that performance.

Lastly, Bruce is not coaching the way he did when if cam in a little under a year ago. It time for him to shuffle the line-up and play the guys who play smart and give maximum effort. The other guys can sit the pine and/or move down to the 3rd & 4th lines. Maybe bring a guy or 2 or 3 up from Hershey.

I hear that OV reads the blogs. I hope he reads my comments and kicks some butt in the locker room. It's time to wake-up Caps!!!!

please continue to hold back your comments. if we played like this for months at a time then you have a point but, up and down play this time of the season could mean nothing in april.

It is interesting the Caps are having issues with Defense, Goaltending, special Teams, and Hershey is having the same issues except Hershey has a less motivational coach.

Not sure if it was mentioned Neuvirth's contract in czech Extraliga fell through and he is headed to South Carolina per Patriot News. So really if looking to the Bears for any help it would have to be scoring help because the Defense is just plain ugly. and Mechesney is averaging 3-4 goals against a game.

Give me a break.

So we had one lousy game. This is the FIRST blowout loss we've had all season. We dealt one, against Vancouver (5-1), but every other game we've played has been very close.

I did not watch the game; I was otherwise occupied last night, so I will reserve judgment on who mucked up. Someone did, and Boudreau will handle it. I trust him.

Did anyone see NHL On The Fly on NHL Network after the Buffalo game? Dan Pollard needs to be reminded that he's not supposed to be a Penguins fan on TV.

After reporting Semin's comments about Crosby, Pollard was completely disparaging, openly rooting for the Penguins and Crosby, even saying three times, "Take that, Semin."

I'm incensed because he's the host. He's not Don Cherry, he's not Stan Fischler, he's not Craig Laughlin. He's the host, supposed to present the games and stats, not give such a strong opinion.

Plus, he missed the whole point of Semin's comments. Semin said Crosby was a good player, but not the superstar that he is made out to be. The Canadian media fawns over Crosby for no reason. I don't have the stat, but I bet Crosby leads the NHL in irrelevant goals (i.e. extend a 4-1 lead to 5-1 late in the 3rd pd) and secondary assists.

So what did Pollard say "Take that" about? Crosby's two secondary assists. Sorry, that's not much. Granted, Semin (and the rest of the Caps) were awful in Buffalo, but two secondary assists against the Blues hardly puts you in the league with Gretzky, Howe, etc. Crosby is one point behind Semin and has played two more games!

Oh, and above all else -- WE BEAT THEM IN PITTSBURGH!

Tarik - if you have an email address that you can publish, please do - studio hosts are not supposed to take sides in a war-of-words between two players, especially one on NHL Network. Semin's comments were newsworthy; Pollard's aggressive attitude towards Semin was not.
