Odds and Ends

The Caps are taking the day off, so I won't be writing a story. Instead, I'm going to get started on my NHL and Caps previews for next week. That's right, there will be an NHL and Caps preview this year.

Since a few of you have asked about right wing Eric Fehr, here's his deal. He's still hurt (mysterious back/hip ailment). He's not skating and won't be playing anytime soon. He's still on the roster, earning NHL money because that's what's fair. Eric finished the season on the NHL roster, the Capitals hoped he'd be on the team this season, and now he's hurt. So he's going to stick around and get treatment and try to get better.

Also, I'm told that people who have a DC United ticket from this season, used or not, can redeem it at Verizon Center for a free ticket to Sunday's preseason game against the Sens. You don't actually have to hand over the ticket if you collect them for some reason. Just present it at the F Street box office and you'll be given a ticket for the game.

I'm also hearing that Dish Network customers in the metro area will be getting Caps games in high definition this season.

Update:The weekly live online hockey chats are scheduled to resume Oct. 5 at noon.

Update:The Caps released their TV schedule this evening. All but one game will be televised (there's a conflict with Versus for the game against Atlanta on Nov. 6). Check out all of the details here. There are a few time changes, too.
