On My Way Back From Indy

What a race! Even a three hour rain delay couldn't wipe the smile off my face.

Whenever I cover Indy -- I think that was my sixth time -- I am reminded of what makes this place so special. The history, the speed, the sounds, the smells. Nothing else compares.

For the first time yesterday, I watched about a half hour of the 500 from pit lane. All I can say is wow. Actually, since this is a family blog, I can't really tell you what I said. But if you've never seen 30 plus cars screaming around a track at 225 miles per hour -- from 50 feet away, with no ear plugs -- you have no idea what you are missing. It's sort of like sitting along the end boards during an NHL game when two players slam into the glass at full speed -- times 10.

I'm still smiling as I sit here at the Indianpolis airport waiting for my flight back to Dulles. It was fun, but the days are long and chasing drivers around in the heat (and rain) is quite draining.

So I'm happy to be on my way home. But that's not the only reason I'm happy today: The Stanley Cup Finals are finally here. Figures to be a great series between two star-studded squads.

I'll spare you another preview -- I'm sure you've read plenty over the past week (seems like a month, doesn't it?) But I am sticking with my prediction that the Sens will soon be taking the Cup back to Canada.

As always, post your prediction below.
