Ovechkin Contract Completed
I just watched from outside of an office at Kettler Capitals Iceplex as Alex Ovechkin, Ted Leonsis, Dick Patrick and the Ovechkin family all shook hands, completing a new long-term contract extension for the star winger. Yes, I was standing in the rain.
Anyway, I also just spoke to Ted, who told me he would share the terms of the deal shortly. But he did want to say that previous reports of six years, $9 million per are NOT right.
I'll have more from Verizon Center in about an hour.

After a crappy day at work I can honestly say this is the best news I've heard all day!!! Way to go Ted and the rest of the Washington organization for locking Ovie up. We have the two Alex's taken care of, now lets take care of Mr. Green and really turn this team into the powerhouse it has the potential to be!

I don't care so much about the money, but it had better not be for LESS than six years. That would make me mad.

Well, Thats good news, however, it would be nice to see the Caps / ownership actually, finally step up and surround him with players who can truly play at his level. Until that happens, I dont see this team doing any better than they have the past couple seasons.
